The Fast and the Furious star made headlines for his previously undisclosed altruism after an investigative report by the New York Times discovered that the actor and rapper has been randomly buying food for people at grocery stores in Atlanta for more than eight years. The heartwarming news about Ludacris, whose real name is Chris Bridges, came to light when a woman named Therra Jaramillo took to Facebook to share a story about how the performer stepped in to buy her a cart full of groceries after she didn't have enough money to buy them as she was checking out. The camp welcomed over 250 kids, who received a day of fundamental and basic training skills. Westbrook acted as coach and referee through multiple basketball and endurance drills, scrimmages and a mini all-star game. Campers were split by age groups, with sessions for 7-10-year-olds in the morning and 11-14-year-olds in the afternoon. 

Westbrook’s Why Not? Foundation is dedicated to supporting community-based education and family service programs. The organization works to help children facing hardships of any nature by inspiring, empowering and teaching them to never give up.

On July 30, the newly minted Los Angeles Laker celebrated the opening of his I Promise School in his hometown of Akron, Ohio. The elementary-level school, which operates in coordination with Akron Public Schools, seeks to educate hundreds of at-risk children and give them the resources, extended hours and concentrated attention needed to overcome historic socioeconomic disadvantages. If the students complete the program, James has arranged for them to have free tuition at the University of Akron. "This skinny kid from Akron who missed 83 days of school in the 4th grade had big dreams..." James tweeted the night before the "first day of school" at I Promise. Big dreams for the kids in Akron to give them everything they could need to find their passion, give back to our community and change the world!! This school is that. The people are that. Akron is that."

The pop icon and philanthropist is currently in Malawi to mark the one-year anniversary of the Mercy James Centre for Pediatric Surgery and Intensive Care. The center, which is funded by Madonna's Raising Malawi charitable organization, is located on the campus of Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, the country's largest referral hospital. Since opening last year, the talented staff at MJC has admitted nearly 1,500 patients into its ward, and performed 1,690 pediatric surgeries (more than double the annual average).

“It’s a thrill to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Mercy James Centre, its talented staff, and the committed partners who have worked with Raising Malawi to make this effort a success,” Madonna said. “Our achievements this past year have exceeded our expectations, and we will continue with our mission to better serve the children of this country.”

In honor of World Refugee Day, which is celebrated on June 20,  the fashion designer/ entrepreneur brought her whole family to Greece where she has been working with refugees from the Middle East and sub-Saharan Africa alongside The Unmentionables an organization that works to protect refugees from exploitation and trafficking.

Kimora, who was recently named global ambassador of the organization, was spotted volunteering with refugee children in The Unmentionables' Resource Center in Athens on Tuesday along with her daughters, Aoki and Ming Lee Simmons, and son, Kenzo Lee Hounsou.

"I am deeply grateful to support World Refugee Day and that I can expose my own children to opportunities to make true, hands-on impact for the greater good,” the 43-year-old former model said in a statement. “There are so many strife-torn families and separated children that need our collective protection as fellow humans to ensure their safety – how can we turn a blind eye? These kids look a lot like mine – they are young, hopeful, beautiful souls.”

While filming his upcoming movie, Between Worlds, in Alabama this weekend, the Oscar winner took time out of his shooting schedule to visit the U.S. Coast Guard Aviation Training Center in Mobile to thank the men and women who put their lives on the line to save people in danger during Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Cage met with many members of the Coast Guard and their families and posed for photos while sharing his appreciation.

Brice kicked off his inaugural Lee Brice & Friends Guitar Pull by gathering his country music pals together to play a few tunes at Nashville's City Winery on Sept. 10. Jerrod Niemann, Charles Esten and Tyler Farr joined him onstage at the sold-out event, which was sponsored by Diamond Coach and American Born Whiskey. The next day, Brice and his pals took part in the Record Rack Celebrity Clays Shoot, and the combined efforts from the weekend raised more than $100,000 for Folds of Honor, an organization that provides educational scholarships to families of military men and women who have fallen or have been disabled while on active duty in the United States armed forces.

The Houston Texans player helped out Hurricane Harvey victims in a big way. The NFL pro and his teammates set out to assist at four locations across the Houston area that were greatly impacted by storm. In addition, the Texans players also distributed and donated supplies in accordance with J.J. Watt’s Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, YouCaring.com/JJWatt, which has raised over $17 million.

As Hurricane Harvey continued to devastate Southeast Texas, the country singer and animal lover helped to ensure that puppies were being saved as well as humans. With the help of transportation volunteers, over 70 dogs were brought to a shelter in Lambert's home state of Oklahoma, and another rig was being sent to Houston to rescue even more. "Continue to send prayers and donations," she implored her Instagram followers on Aug. 30, sharing a link to her non-profit, the MuttNation Foundation.

This year's THON charity event ended up raising more than $10 million for Four Diamonds, a pediatric cancer charity that operates out of the Penn State Children's Hospital.

The Survivor star and his wife, Lisa Heywood, had a rather nontraditional honeymoon. Rather than relax on a beach, the newlyweds took part in a fast-paced mission to build a community for more than 1,000 displaced Syrian and Iraqi refugees in Greece. The catch? The fundraiser -- which, in partnership with CrowdRise's 24-Hour Impact Project, will help raise money to build a school, communal kitchen, library, and soccer field -- took place over the course of just one day, Oct. 19.

The UN Goodwill Ambassador and her eldest son, Brooklyn, visited Kenya in early October as part of a joint effort by UNAID and Born Free to promote efforts toward the elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV. During their visit, Victoria and Brooklyn met with families and individuals whose lives have been impacted by HIV, and spent time meeting with government officials and volunteers who are dedicated to the cause. Girls star Jason, Arrow newcomer Tyler (pictured with wife Lelia) and sister Carly posed with their mom Nancy Morgan at the event, organized by actress Kate Miner and her family, who have the HD gene. “It’s a tough disease to get the word out about because it only affects the families it affects,” said Jason, who starred in the powerful 2014 documentary The Lion’s Mouth Opens, chronicling his friend Marianna Palka’s experience with having the HD gene. “It’s like a combination of Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, which is scary because not only do you lose control of your mind, but your body as well. It’s very painful for families to watch the deterioration of someone they love.”

Former Dancing with the Stars finalist Ginger Zee hosted Women’s Health magazine’s 5th annual Run 10 Feed 10 event on Sept. 18. The race has funded an impressive five millions meals for the hungry since 2012. “I feel the most motivated when I’m in control of my schedule, because if I plan something, I know I did so because it’s important to me,” says Lee of her approach to working out. “I used to make excuses all the time, but now there’s no room to say, ‘I’ll do it later.’ It’s ‘I do it now,’ or I don’t do it.”

By the end of the night, Adams and the audience raised over $13,000, all of which will go toward's Turner's cause.

Backstreet Boy Nick Carter took a night off from daddy duties to team up with fans and raise money to help fight human trafficking at the Rock For Freedom bowling and music fundraiser at Lucky Strike Live in Hollywood on July 28. "He's trying to crawl now, but he can’t," gushed Carter about his three-month-old son, Odin. "But his attempts are so cute. I love it!" Fellow musicians Papa Roach and Hoobastank also took part in the event, which was hosted by the Rockers United Foundation and its head organizer, rock photographer Kevin Estrada, and raised $20,000.
