Charlie Sheen Through the Years

Charlie Sheen has had a life full of ups and downs. The man who once bragged about his "tiger blood" has led an illustrious acting career, while also weathering addiction, stints in rehab, and multiple divorces. Let's take a walk back through some of the highest and lowest moments in the 50-year-old actor's life and career.

Although the 1984 film, Red Dawn, was a major breakthrough for Sheen, the actor would express distaste for it years later, telling ET in 1987, "The film is such a comic book, it was such a great concept on paper but I think if [director John] Milius had paid more attention to his actors than his tank we might've had something."

The 1986 Oscar-winning war film was a box office powerhouse, and established Sheen as a big-time star.

Sheen starred in the iconic film alongside his father, Martin Sheen, in 1987.

In 1994, Sheen received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, after roles in several critically-acclaimed films, including Platoon, Wall Street, and Major League.

Sheen and Donna Peele married in September of 1995, the same year that the actor was named as one of the clients of Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss. The two divorced in 1996.

The actor, well known for his substance abuse issues, suffered a stroke in May 1998 after overdosing on cocaine. After this scary wake-up call, Sheen was in and out of rehab several times.

Sheen and Richards began dating in 2001 after she guest-starred on his show, Spin City, and married in June 2002. The former couple has two kids together, and they split in 2005, after Richards accused Sheen of alcohol and drug abuse, and threats of violence. Their relationship, since the divorce, has mostly remained combative.

Sheen earned a starring role on this show that was based loosely on his troublemaker image in 2003. It would go on to be a massive CBS hit, earning Sheen three Emmy nominations along the way. However, in 2011, the show went on hiatus while Sheen was admitted to a substance abuse program. Later that year, following remarks Sheen made about show creator, Chuck Lorre, the actor was dismissed from the show.

After being fired from Two and a Half Men in 2011, Sheen underwent a very public meltdown, making a great deal of bizarre statements, and claiming he had "tiger blood" and was "winning." Sheen went on a sold-out tour called My Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat is Not An Option, and was the guest of dishonor at the highest-rated Comedy Central Roast to date.

Sheen's third wife, Mueller, and he have 6-year-old twin sons together. After tying the knot in 2008, the two were divorced three years later. Sheen faced reports of domestic violence (including an assault arrest in 2009) during the couple's marriage, and Mueller obtained a restraining order in 2011, while questioning Sheen's sanity.

Sheen affectionately referred to adult film star Bree Olson and model Natalie Kenly as his "goddesses" when the three reportedly lived together in 2011. Olson announced her retirement from adult films that year, and in 2015, posted an open letter advising women to avoid the industry.
