These are the nine black sitcoms from the '90s that we absolutely need to stream!
1 / 9
'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air'
NBC
Now this is a story all about how a show starred one of the biggest movie stars in the world and had one of the most memorable theme songs of all time and STILL WASN'T AVAILABLE TO STREAM ON NETFLIX.
'Kenan & Kel'
Nickelodeon
Besides the fact that it's hilarious and features two of everyone's favorite Nick stars, the show comes built-in with it's own binge-watching catchphrase that you can yell as the next episode queues up ("Aww, here it goes!"). Dear Netflix, while you're at it, give us Good Burger too, please!
'Family Matters'
ABC
A generation of TV viewers that embrace nerd culture on shows like The Big Bang Theory and Silicon Valley deserve to see nerd king Steve Urkel in all his glory.
'The Wayans Bros.'

You can already watch some of Shawn and Marlon Wayans' feature films like White Chicks and Little Man on Netflix, why not include their (arguably) funnier WB show The Wayans Bros.? (Also, Wayans family project In Living Color is technically a sketch show, but totally deserves a streaming spot too!)
'227'
NBC
The first two seasons of the Marla Gibbs vehicle that made Jackée Harry a breakout star garnered the second-highest ratings for a black sitcom on TV in 1986 and 1987, second only to perennial powerhouse The Cosby Show. The list of guest stars alone should warrant a streaming spot on Netflix: Angela Bassett, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Luther Vandross were just a few of the notable names that appeared during the show's five season run.
'Sister, Sister'
The WB
Keep the Jackée Harry love going with Sister, Sister, a Parent Trap-style show in which Tia and Tamera Mowry play identical twins separated at birth. When the twins meet as teenagers, their parents (Harry and Tim Reid) agree to move in together keep the girls in each other's lives, forming a makeshift family. Twin-swapping antics, plus annoying neighbor Roger? Netflix now!
'Smart Guy'
The WB
Complete your Mowry family binge-watching marathon with Smart Guy, in which Tia and Tamera's younger brother Tahj plays a pint-sized high school student.
'Martin'
FOX
The perfect tie-in: Put Martin and Fresh Prince on Netflix at the same time to build up anticipation for Bad Boys 3!
'Moesha'
UPN
Putting all six seasons of Brandy Norwood's UPN sitcom on Netflix is the right move, if only to give us a look at cameos from Usher, Master P, and Ginuwine and guest appearances from almost every single '90s hip-hop and R&B star.
