Just because a couple is madly in love doesn't mean they always shout it from the rooftops! Here's a look at the stars who kept their nuptials hush-hush.
Jon Batiste and Suleika Jaouad
The 35-year-old musician revealed in an interview for CBS Sunday Morning on April 3, 2022, that he and his longtime ladylove secretly wed in February, on the eve of her bone marrow transplant as she battles Leukemia a second time. After eight years together, the two became wife and husband with the help of bread ties, which they used in the absence of rings, and a marriage license procured while Suleika was in the operating room. "It's an act of defiance," Jon said of tying the knot. "The darkness will try to overtake you, but just turn on the light. Focus on the light. Hold onto the light."
Billie Lourd and Austen Rydell
The 29-year-old actress and her longtime boyfriend are married! Lourd announced on March 15, 2022, that she and Rydell had tied the knot in a stunning, intimate ceremony three days earlier. Lourd shared a cute pic to Instagram showing her, in a gorgeous white gown, exchanging a kiss with her tuxedo-clad new husband. The couple, who got engaged in June 2020, tied the knot in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, according to social media posts of the pair's wedding festivities.
James McAvoy and Lisa Liberati
The 42-year-old actor confirmed that he and his girlfriend recently secretly tied the knot in an interview with The Guardian, published on Feb. 3, 2022. McAvoy and Liberati met in 2016 amid his separation from his then-wife, Anne-Marie Duff, with whom he shares an 11-year-old son, Brendan. The newlyweds first came into contact on the set of M. Night Shyamalan's 2016 flick, Split, in which McAvoy starred and Liberati served as the director's assistant. They began a relationship a couple of years later, per the outlet. With his new bride, McAvoy finds himself living between three cities: his native Glasgow, Scotland, his current city, London, England, and Liberati's hometown of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Jenny Slate and Ben Shattuck
The 39-year-old actress shared that she married author and artist Ben Shattuck on New Year's Eve in an extremely intimate wedding that took place in their living room. In a new interview with Marie Claire, which came out Jan. 18, Slate shared that their wedding had already previously been postponed three times due to the coronavirus pandemic. While their wedding was initially supposed to be a large celebration, Slate said she couldn't be happier with the way it turned out. "We were planning on a [wedding] that ended up being almost 200 people, and then now, it's just our parents and siblings," she said. "We each invited six friends… I actually like it. I like it better. I didn't realize how the large thing was making me feel uncomfortable, a little bit. Just a little."
Uzo Aduba and Robert Sweeting
The In Treatment star revealed the happy news that she was married on her first anniversary, sharing with fans and followers that she secretly married her filmmaker beau in 2020. "When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible," Aduba captioned a pic from her wedding day, quoting Nora Ephron's iconic line from the Billy Crystal-Meg Ryan rom-com When Harry Met Sally. "For some, it feels like we wait our whole lives for our someone. My love, I’m so happy my life started last year with you."
Anna Faris and Michael Barrett
The actress and the cinematographer eloped! The blushing bride broke the news on her Anna Faris is Unqualified podcast in July 2021. "Yes, we eloped...I'm sorry. I didn't know... I'm sorry, honey. I just blurted that out, but it just feels [like] I can't say fiancé anymore," she said to her new husband. "Thank you, it was awesome. It feels great. It was at a local courthouse up in Washington state. It was great."
Emma Bunton and Jade Jones
Emma Bunton, aka Baby Spice, took to Instagram on July 13 to share a stunning snapshot from her wedding to longtime love Jade Jones, revealing the exciting news to her friends and followers. The pic showed Bunton and Jones standing face-to-face and smiling brightly. The sweet photo showed off Bunton's classic white wedding dress, which she paired with a floral headband that perfectly accentuated her signature blonde locks. Jones, meanwhile, looked chic in a brown fedora, black crewneck shirt and stylish patterned blazer. "Mr and Mrs Jones!" Bunton captioned the photo. Bunton and Jones began dating back in 1998, and the pair got engaged in 2006. Together they share two sons -- 13-year-old Beau and 10-year-old Tate
Busy Philipps and Marc Silverstein
In honor of their 13th wedding anniversary, Philipps shared the story of her and Silverstein's surprise 2007 wedding, joking that she honored her man by letting "him participate in a self timed photo shoot on the balcony with me. Only half kidding." She went on to ask fans to swipe left in order to see pics from the nuptials. "IF YOU CARE TO SCROLL YOU WILL SEE. 1. the invitation people were handed AFTER we got married because we had a SURPRISE wedding and our friends all thought they were just coming to a birthday party marc was throwing for me. 2. Dennis Quaid and Laura Savoie
The 66-year-old actor and the doctoral student eloped to Santa Barbara, California, for a seaside resort ceremony in June 2020, ET can confirm. While the couple was supposed to have an April wedding in Hawaii followed by a reception in Nashville, they had to come up with a new plan due to the coronavirus pandemic. Instead of their destination wedding and celebratory party, Quaid and Savoie got married with just their pastor as a witness. "It was beautiful," Quaid told People of his wedding day, with Savoie adding that she was moved by the pastor's message "of what it really means to bring your lives together, to put another person before yourself." Quaid and Savoie met at a business event and began dating in May 2019, before getting engaged just months later. For the actor, it was "love at first sight." I love you Mrs. Pearman-Maday! Let’s tear this world a new a**hole!!!" The former View co-host also shared a photo of a house, explaining, "Thank you to all those who helped and for those who understand why it was small during this time."
Debby Ryan and Josh Dun
The Disney Channel darling married the Twenty One Pilots drummer on New Year's Eve 2019, Ryan revealed nearly five months later. The confirmation came after Twenty One Pilots fans began to speculate the two had tied the knot due to him wearing a ring in the band's video for "Level of Concern," which dropped in April 2020. In a new interview with Vogue, the couple shared that they tied the knot in Austin, Texas, and it took them just 28 days to plan their nuptials. Ryan explains that after a close friend of hers died the previous summer, she decided to stop putting off her wedding and make it a priority. "The time just felt right," she says. "When he passed, it really rocked me and put a lot of things in perspective." The Insatiable star looked gorgeous in an off-the-shoulder Elie Saab dress in a wedding photo taken by photographer Logan Cole, and the ceremony had plenty of personal touches, like the groomsmen walking in to a strings section playing Coolio's "Gangsta's Paradise" and Ryan walking in to "Hoppipolla" by Sigur Ros. The 27-year-old actress and the 31-year-old musician got engaged in December 2018, when Dun proposed in a treehouse in New Zealand.
Pamela Anderson and Jon Peters

Anderson and Peters dated three decades ago and recently reunited before tying the knot. A rep for Anderson confirmed the nuptials to ET. Heidi Klum and Tom Kaulitz
Who needs a long engagement? The supermodel and former America's Got Talent judge and the Tokio Hotel guitarist secretly became husband and wife in early 2019, TMZ reported. ET has reached out to Klum's rep for comment. The cute couple got engaged in December, and Klum opened up to ET in February about how wedding planning was coming along following their engagement. "Yeah, I think we did [set a date]," Klum coyly said without sharing more details. "But you will find out eventually." Klum, 46, and Kaulitz, 29, were first spotted out together in March of 2018, and they went public with their relationship shortly after, just months before he popped the question.
This is the third marriage for Klum, who is also a mother to four kids -- daughter Leni from her relationship with Flavio Briatore, and sons Henry and Johan and daughter Lou from her nine-year marriage to singer Seal. She was also married to celebrity hair stylist Ric Pipino from 1997 to 2002. As for Kaulitz, he was previously married to Ria Sommerfeld from 2015 to 2018.
Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner
Sin City surprise! Just a few hours after the engaged duo attended the 2019 Billboard Music Awards on May 1, the lovebirds headed to a local chapel in Las Vegas to tie the knot. Jonas' brothers, Nick and Kevin Jonas, were on hand for the nuptials, and the Elvis impersonator who married the Game of Thrones star and the DNCE frontman said they both served as Best Man. "They did a very important job. In case [Joe] passed out, they were supposed to catch him. They did great," the Elvis impersonator joked to ET. "It was crazy. These guys are all entertainers, obviously. They were loud when they needed to be loud, they dressed the part, for sure. And you could tell it was a tight-knit group of people, but it was about 40 deep."
A source told ET that this won't be the pair's only ceremony. "Joe and Sophie are a couple that loves to have fun and live in the moment, and that’s exactly what getting hitched in Vegas was," the source said. "The couple does plan to have a more formal wedding with their family and friends, but this ceremony was just fun. Joe and Sophie are planning to get married in Paris later this year." Turner and Jonas were first linked in November 2016 and got engaged the following October.
Paul Wesley and Ines de Ramon
After the Vampire Diaries alum and his girlfriend were spotted wearing matching wedding bands in mid-February, E! confirmed that Wesley is now a married man. The two are very private about their relationship and have yet to comment on the news.
Colleen Ballinger and Erik Stocklin
The Haters Back Off actress and YouTube star revealed that she's secretly wed her longtime boyfriend in a video shared over the weekend before New Year's Eve. "This was the hardest year of my whole life, but it was also the best year I’ve ever had," the 32-year-old celeb explained in the lengthy post. "I had the craziest year of my entire life. I cannot believe it’s over. This year I got pregnant and engaged and married all in the same year -- yeah, we got married. Oops, forgot to tell you that one." Once spilling the beans about her new hubby, Ballinger heaped praise on Stocklin for his support and love. The couple -- who got engaged last Spring -- have long appeared opposite one another on their MSNBC political talk show. However, they've kept their relationship strictly off-air and worked hard to maintain the same level of discretion while planning their wedding. They chose a date during where many of Washington, D.C.'s power players would be out of town or preoccupied for Thanksgiving and made reservations with their wedding vendors under other names, for the sake of privacy. The ceremony was officiated by Congressman Elijah Cummings, the U.S. Representative for Maryland's 7th congressional district.
Mena Suvari and Michael Hope
Surprise! Suvari didn't divulge the exact date she wed Hope, but in October 2018, she did reveal to Us Weekly that "third time's the charm." The American Woman actress noted, "It's great. I'm really happy. We're happy," before going on to tell a few reporters about the ceremony. “It was very intimate. It was very beautiful,” she said. “I had my closest friends with me. It was very meaningful. After all these years, sort of having ups and downs, it’s very nice just being settled, especially at this point in my life." The pair met while filming the 2016 Hallmark movie, I'll Be Home for Christmas, which Suvari starred in and where Hope worked in the art department. The American Beauty star was previously married to Robert Brinkmann from 2000 to 2005 and Simone Sestito from 2010 to 2012.
Hilary Swank and Philip Schneider
Surprise! Swank secretly tied the knot with Schneider, a social venture entrepreneur, in mid-August. The couple exchanged vows at the Saint Lucia Preserve in Carmel, California, according to Vogue, which shared stunning photographs from their outdoor ceremony. Swank wore two beautiful wedding gowns for her special day. Her first dress was an ethereal Elie Saab Couture creation that featured 25 meters of Chantilly lace, eight meters of silk chiffon, and six meters of organza silk and took 150 hours to create. The pair was first spotted together in November 2016.
Michelle Williams and Phil Elverum
The Dawson's Creek alum revealed in a July 2018 interview with Vanity Fair that she had secretly tied the knot with indie musician Phil Elverum earlier that month, surrounded by a handful of their friends in the Adirondacks. Cardi B and Offset
The rap power couple secretly tied the knot prior to welcoming their first child together, daughter Kulture, in July 2018. Cardi revealed the news on social media, sharing that she and her Migos rapper fiance woke up and decided to get married one morning in September 2017. "There are so many moments that I share with the world and there are moments that I want to keep for myself!" Cardi tweeted. "Getting married was one of those moments! Our relationship was so new breaking up and making up and we had a lot of growing up to do but we was so in love we didn't want to lose each other, was one morning in September we woke up and decided to get married. We found someone to marry us. And she did, just the two of us and my cousin. I said i do, with no dress no make up and no ring!"

The Aquaman star and the Ray Donovan actress, who began dating in 2005, share two children -- 10-year-old daughter Lola and 8-year-old son Nakoa-Wolf.
