There, he becomes a full-fledged operative after discovering a terrorist plot to collapse America's economy, which puts his love (played by Keira Knightley) directly in jeopardy. Kenneth Branagh plays the film's villain and also directs the origin story. Colm Feore, Gemma Chan, Karen David and David Paymer also star. Reese Witherspoon and Colin Firth take on the high-profile case of The West Memphis Three in the gripping Devil's Knot, based on the true story that shocked the nation. Unwitting teens Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jesse Misskelley Jr. were convicted – widely believed to be wrongly so -- of the gruesome 1993 murders of three eight-year-old boys and accused of killing them as part of a Satanic ritual. The West Memphis three were ultimately imprisoned for close to two decades before being released in 2011; although they would ultimately not admit guilt, they were not found to be wrongfully convicted and have yet to be fully exonerated. Also starring Amy Ryan, Mireille Enos, Stephen Moyer, Alessandro Nivola and Dane DeHaan, Devil's Knot was directed by Atom Egoyan.
