Tom Hanks takes on the frightening, true-life tale of the cargo ship captain who went toe-to-to with modern-day Somali pirates in this film by Oscar-nominated director Paul Greengrass. Hanks portrays Captain Richard Phillips, whose US-flagged MV Maersk Alabama was overtaken by Somali pirates in 2009, the first American cargo ship to be hijacked in 200 years. Quick to defend his ship from the machine-gun wielding attackers, his ship was nonetheless boarded and he had to face life-and-death decisions in protecting his crew and cargo.

Following a crazy group of diverse individuals trampling everything in their path to get their hands on a fortune in stolen cash, the principal cast includes Sid Caesar, Mickey Rooney, Ethel Merman, Edie Adams, Buddy Hackett, Jonathan Winters, Phil Silvers, Milton Berle and Spencer Tracy, with supporting turns and cameos by stars including Jerry Lewis, Jim Backus, Jimmy Durante, Peter Falk, Jack Benny, Buster Keaton, Don Knotts, Carl Reiner, Norman Fell and The Three Stooges! The newly restored transfer contains a 197-minute extended version of the film, reconstructed and restored by Robert A. Harris using visual and audio material from the longer original road-show version—including some scenes that have been returned to the film for the first time. New audio commentary, a new documentary on the film’s visual and sound effects, featuring rare behind-the-scenes footage of the crew at work, a talk show from 1974 hosted by director Stanley Kramer and featuring Mad World actors Sid Caesar, Buddy Hackett, and Jonathan Winters, a booklet featuring an essay by film critic Lou Lumenick and much, much, much, much more!
