Alfred Hitchcock: The Masterpiece Collection
Universal
Between HBO's The Girl and the upcoming big-screen movie Hitchcock, the Master of Suspense is extremely popular again, and now Universal is releasing Alfred Hitchcock: The Masterpiece Collection on Blu-ray, containing no less than 15 Hitchcock classics, 13 of which make their Blu-ray debut. Psycho, The Birds, Vertigo, Rear Window, North by Northwest, The Man Who Knew Too Much, Marnie, Saboteur, Shadow of a Doubt, Rope, The Trouble with Harry, Torn Curtain, Topaz, Frenzy and Family Plot are contained in the set, which also includes a 50-page, collectible book featuring storyboards, costume sketches, correspondence and photographs alongside more than 15 hours of documentaries (including the brand-new The Birds, Hitchcock's Monster Movie), filmmaker commentaries, interviews, screen tests and trailers.
The Campaign
Warner Bros.
Just in case you haven't gotten enough amusement watching Romney and Obama duke it out in debates and mud-slinging political ads, Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis provide a whole new set of laughs in this political comedy as Cam Brady and Marty Huggins, rival North Carolina politicians battling for a seat in Congress – using any means necessary to win. Directed by Jay Roach (Recount, the Austin Powers movies), The Campaign also stars Jason Sudeikis, Dylan McDermott, Brian Cox, John Lithgow and Dan Aykroyd.
Ruby Sparks
20th Century Fox
Paul Dano reteams with his Little Miss Sunshine directors for this inventive comedy as a frustrated writer whose literary dream girl – played by Zoe Kazan -- miraculously comes to life, turning his world upside down. With his love now come to life, should he pen the rest himself, or let the book write itself? Also starring Antonio Banderas, Annette Bening and Elliott Gould.
Safety Not Guaranteed
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment
The Sundance favorite is now on DVD and Blu-ray! A witty dramatic comedy, Safety Not Guaranteed follows a trio of magazine employees who seek to expose the real story behind a man who put a classified ad in the paper seeking a time travel partner. The mysterious man turns out to be a likeable but eccentric and paranoid supermarket clerk (Mark Duplass). Is he nuts? Or is he actually onto something that could change the course of history forever? Aubrey Plaza, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Basil Harris, David Schultz and Jeff Garlin also star.
