New on Blu-ray & DVD: August 21

Sacha Baron Cohen wreaks havoc as The Dictator; Jack Black toys with murder as Bernie; House and The Closer wrap it up; Power Rangers attack DVD; a bunch of new Disney classics on Blu-ray and more this week.

Jack Black reunites with his School of Rock director Richard Linklater for this dark comedy based on a true story. Black plays Bernie Tiede, a small-town funeral director and church choir director who is beloved by the citizens, young and old, and befriends local wealthy curmudgeon Marjorie Nugent (played by Shirley MacLaine). When Marjorie mysteriously disappears, Bernie goes to great lengths to keep up appearances that she's still alive -- but soon must face accusations of murder.

Sacha Baron Cohen skewers the Middle East like a shish kabob as Third World ruler Admiral General Aladeen in his outrageously funny new comedy. The ruthless leader of the fictitious country Wadiya, Aladeen finds himself on a wild journey of self-discovery when he's double-crossed and dumped on the streets of New York while his puppet double readies to sign a document at the United Nations that will turn his country into a Democracy. Noooo! Ben Kingsley, Anna Faris, Chris Parnell, Jessica St. Clair and Jason Mantzoukas also star. The Banned & Unrated Blu-ray/DVD combo pack includes both an unrated version of the film with nearly 20 minutes of footage not seen in theaters, as well as the original theatrical version.

This charming family film from DisneyNature follows the true-life adventures of Oscar, a young chimpanzee whose curiosity and zest for life showcases the intelligence and ingenuity of one of the most extraordinary personalities in the animal kingdom. Like all DisneyNature releases, a donation will be made to a good cause: A portion of first week sales will go to the Jane Goodall Institute to conserve chimpanzee habitat, educate the next generation and provide care for orphaned chimps.

The Academy Award winner for Best Foreign Language film is now on DVD and Blu-ray. Set in contemporary Iran, the compelling drama follows the dissolution of a marriage. Simin wants to leave Iran with her husband Nader and daughter Termeh and sues for divorce when Nader refuses to leave behind his Alzheimer-suffering father. Her request having failed, Simin returns to her parents' home but Termeh decides to stay with Nader. When Nader hires a young woman to assist with his father in his wife' absence, he hopes that his life will return to a normal state. However, when he discovers that the new maid has been lying to him, he realizes that there is more on the line than just his marriage.

Oscar winners Robert De Niro and Forest Whitaker team up with Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson in this gritty tale of the brotherhood between cops and corruption within the ranks. Jackson plays the son of a slain NYPD officer who joins the force, headed up by rogue cops De Niro and Whitaker, only to discover the villainous story behind his father's death. After he learns the tough truth, he seeks revenge.

More of Disney's beloved classics are now on Blu-ray for the first time!
