PICS: Hollywood's Hottest Models Turned Actors

The sexy 'Transformers' star won the Male Model of the Year title in an International Modeling and Talent Association competition in 1997, beating out first runner-up Ashton Kutcher. He made his big-screen debut in 'Win a Date With Tad Hamilton' alongside Kate Bosworth and Topher Grace and can now be seen in the highly anticipated 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon.'

With his much-talked about looks, Ashton Kutcher had to have been a model before he turned to acting.  But something you might not have known? He lost his first modeling competition to Josh Duhamel in 1997.

It's no secret that Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was a former Victoria's Secret model before getting cast as Megan Fox's replacement in 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon.'  In fact, the stunning 24-year-old was discovered when 'Transformers' director Michael Bay shot her in a Victoria's Secret Holiday 2010 TV commercial.

Chace Crawford reportedly modeled while in high school in Dallas before his breakout role as pretty boy Nate Archibald on "Gossip Girl." His looks are still in high demand today, as he walked the runway for Versace at the Milan Menswear Fashion Week just this Monday.

The "Smallville" star was a construction worker when he was discovered in 1998 at a party in Nantucket by a modeling scout who suggested he try modeling.  The rest is history. He modeled for Tommy Hilfiger, Abercrombie & Fitch and Calvin Klein before hitting it big when he was cast as Clark Kent after a nationwide search for the star-making role.

The 'X-Men: First Class' and "Mad Men" star used to model for Abercrombie & Fitch amongst other brands when she was just starting out in the business. But modeling was no walk in the park for the blonde bombshell. "I felt like, God, I'm miserable. I hate modeling," she told GQ. "When I moved back to New York, the agency said I owed them $20,000. So I left the agency and then – very quickly – decided to go to L.A. and try acting. Without any training." The risky move paid off, as she is now a Golden Globe-nominated actress who has managed to find success on both the small and big screen.

The former face of Guess, Ian Somerhalder modeled for such big designer names as Calvin Klein, Versace and Gucci before landing his breakout role in "Young Americans" alongside Kate Bosworth.  And with those piercing blue eyes and dark hair, is it any wonder that "The Vampire Diaries" star was a highly successful former model?
