Higgins and Bushnell are both single, nearly a year and a half after ending their engagement.
Nearly a year and a half after calling it quits, Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell are both single -- but fans shouldn't hold out hope that they'll get back together.
ET's Lauren Zima spoke with the former Bachelor at the 2018 iHeartRadio Music Festival at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Friday, where he shut down speculation that he and Bushnell will rekindle their romance.
"You know, I don't think our lives have gone any closer than they were a year and a half ago," Higgins admitted. "Maybe if they were aligning or we were crossing paths, or we had spoken, I'd say oh, there's a shot, but we've continued to go like this. So I would say I don't see that path or that possibility happening at this point."
"I hope for the best for her, I don't want to talk about her break up anymore," he added. "Every time I talk about it, I feel it again or I think about it, and we're both good. We're doing our thing."
These days, Higgins is keeping busy with his Generous Coffee company -- even teasing that the company could expand into the tea market -- so he doesn't have too much time for his reality roots. However, he made a small appearance on the most recent season of Bachelor in Paradise and is open to further cameos. Plus, he offered some words of wisdom for the new, upcoming Bachelor, Colton Underwood.
"My only regret from doing The Bachelor was, I took it so serious that I didn't allow myself to have any fun and I, really, I was always on edge," he explained. "I always waiting for something to erupt and occur that caused havoc in the house and I just didn't allow myself to be kind of like at peace."
"I hope he's able to do that," Higgins added of Underwood's upcoming season, "but it is emotionally taxing."
Higgins and Bushnell announced their breakup in May 2017, a year and a half after he proposed on The Bachelor. By July 2017, ET learned she was dating Devin Antin, however the two split last month.
In a July interview with ET, weeks before her breakup, Bushnell admitted that she wished she would have "taken a little bit more time" for herself before jumping into a new relationship post-split. "I do feel bad, because I went through a very hard, public breakup, and I do think I brought a lot of those emotions into me and Devin's relationship at the beginning. So it's definitely been, like, a roller coaster of a ride," she said.
"I think everyone always wants there to be someone at fault, or a reason why, or someone wants to point the finger, and I think because I started dating Devin so soon after, I was kind of an easy target," Bushnell added of her high-profile breakup with Higgins. "That was obviously hard, but breakups are hard, whether you met on The Bachelor or not. Breakups suck."
While chatting with ET in March, Higgins revealed that he and Bushnell were still in contact. See more in the video below, and join the conversation at ET's Bachelor Nation Facebook group here.
