Samantha Harris and DL1961 Launch Dream-Jean
Entertainment Tonight's Samantha Harris sure has a lot to celebrate, as do all the ladies who can't seem to find the perfect-fitting jean! Well, look no more -- as Samantha and DL1961 Premium Denim have teamed up to create a reincarnation of the "classic" jean.
Clad in her favorite DL1961 maternity jeans during her first pregnancy, Samantha found herself wondering, "Why doesn't something this comfortable in the waistband exist for those of us who aren't pregnant?" Set out to provide ultimate comfort and a universally flattering fit -- while still maintaining a stylish sensibility -- alas, "The Samantha" jean was born.
It wasn't until after her second pregnancy when she decided to pursue designing her dream-jean for "those of us who are twenty-somethings on a hot date who want to eat a big meal and not pop the top button," or "for the mom rolling around with her kids on the floor playing." She explains, "Whatever it is, you want to be in something that is comfortable, and chic, and denim -- and it didn't exist!" Thanks to Samantha and DL1961, it finally does!
The celebration continued this week when friends and celebs such as Footloose star Julianne Hough, Entourage's Perry Reeves, Dancing with the Stars' Kym Johnson and Anna Trebunskaya, Autumn Reeser, Izabella Miko and Julie Benz, came out to support the launch of "The Samantha" jean. ET sat down exclusively with Samantha at the launch party to get the full scoop:
ET: Why did you choose to collaborate with DL1961 over other denim brands and why was the collaboration successful?
SH: DL1961 has the best-fitting, most flexible denim fabric of any jean in the marketplace. It was imperative to find a brand that already equals superb quality and style. My concept was to create a waistband on jeans that moves with a woman's ever-changing waistline, yet also maintains a structured, chic fit through the leg. The synergy between my idea and DL1961's existing style and structure was perfect!
ET: Talk us through the "denim science." What makes this jean unique?
SH: The "science" behind "The Samantha" is multi-leveled. First, and what makes it unique, is the waistband -- flexible enough to hold you in when you need, but allows you to let it all out when necessary! We all know our bodies change from flatter tummy in the morning to bloated. No one wants a waistband that digs in, cuts you in half and gives that dreaded "muffin top". "The Samantha" ebbs and flows with you, acting as your new best friend. From rolling around on the floor with my new baby to a hot date night with my husband, these jeans do it all. I couldn't be more proud of how they turned out. Additionally, this straight-legged jean has a perfect-fitting 31" inseam. No tailor necessary! The belt loops on the sides are at an angle, so instead of puckering out adding inches to your hips -- "The Samantha" gives you the perfect silhouette. Not to mention, DL1961's signature 360-degree comfort and 4-way stretch.
ET: Does the line offer a full range of sizes? Where and when can we make a purchase?
SH: It is a darker wash perfect for smoothly transitioning from day into night. The sizes range from 24-32 and a full list of "where-to-buy" is available at www.DL1961jeans.com. ET: Do you have plans to expand "The Samantha" with other colors, washes, cuts, etc...?
SH: We are already ecstatic to announce the expansion of "The Samantha" in time for the holidays! Toward the end of October, there will be four (4) new color-washes available: "Sweet-pea" berry, "Viola" dark purple, "Bluebell" dark teal and "Willow" rust. As the seasons go on, I hope to introduce other denim washes and cuts!
