The actress at first played coy before ultimately sharing that she did, in fact, date the singer.
Hunter Schafer is happy to share that she did, in fact, once date Rosalía.
The Euphoria star made the revelation in a GQ profile in which, at first, she played coy about the famous person she had once dated in the past. The topic came up after she opened up about feeling "exposed" following her "painful" breakup from co-star Dominic Fike, 28, in 2023. That relationship, Schafer said, was her first time publicly dating another famous person, which is why she felt so exposed and all the more hurt following that breakup.
"I had dated other famous people before, but people didn't know about it," she added. "It was completely different."
The writer wondered who, but Schafer, 25, shook her head and said, "People who care enough and have done their research probably know what's up."
Online sleuths would point to the one and only Rosalía, 31, whom Schafer was recently spotted out shopping for furniture with. When that sighting was brought up during the interview, Schafer laughed it off and admitted she's not sure she should be talking about the subject. The writer then drops it, but not before revisiting it the next day.
As Schafer tells it, she talked it over with Rosalía and she said she's "happy to confirm that they dated for about five months in the fall and winter of 2019." Schafer shared that it took some time to figure out "the vibe" before realizing that their hangouts were, in fact, dates. They're now friends. Well, more than friends, actually.
"She's family no matter what," said Schafer of Rosalía.
Schafer said she's been aware of the speculation about the nature of her relationship with the "Con Altura" singer, who most recently has been linked to The Bear star Jeremy Allen White.
"It's been so much speculation for so long," Schafer said. "Part of us just wants to get it over with, and then another part is like, 'It's none of anybody's f**king business!' ... [Ultimately, though,] it's something I'm happy to share. And I think she feels that way too."
As for her current relationship status, Schafer said she's single and not in any hurry to change that.
She added, "I'm still in some ways healing from the last thing. I want to make sure I'm good all the way before I jump into something else."
As ET previously reported, Rosalía and White fueled dating rumors late last year with outings around Los Angeles. Then, in January, it appeared as though White casually confirmed his rumored romance with the songstress when he donned an $875 Tiffany & Co. Amapola Brooch while attending the 2024 Critics Choice Awards. How's this important? Well, the red poppy accessory is eerily similar to the one Rosalía's ex, Rauw Alejandro, previously donned when the former couple attended the 23rd annual Latin GRAMMY Awards back in November 2022.
The boutonnière has now been dubbed the "Rosalía rose."
Rosalía and Alejandro broke off their engagement in July 2023.
