The 'Home Town Takeover' host and her husband had a message for the haters on social media.
Erin Napier is calling for renovations to her social media comments section!
On Tuesday, the Home Town Takeover host and her husband, Ben Napier, had a message for the trolls who have taken to the comments with hate.
"As my mama would say, y’all act like you’ve got some raising. ❤️," Erin captioned the video shared on her Instagram.
"The comments on my Instagram have been really, not nice," Erin begins.
"Nasty," Ben chimes in.
"Really rude," Erin continues. "Some of you guys... y'all realize we design these houses for people who really live in them and they really read your comments. You're not hurting my feelings at all, but you are being really ugly to the people that are living in these houses and if you can't think of something nice to say about these people's homes..."
"Don't say anything at all," Ben interjects.
"Hello! You're not gonna hurt my feelings, but you are gonna hurt someone's feelings who lives in that house," Erin reiterated. "You know better, guys, do better. Be sweet. Like I tell my little girls," she added, referencing her and Ben's daughter, Helen, 5, and Mae, 1. "Y'all can be grown ups and be sweet."
Ben shared his take on the trolls in the comments, telling his wife (and longtime co-host) that he believes people do it simply to be mean.
"I'm afraid that a lot of the people out there are being rude and being mean because they want to be hurtful," Ben says. "And that's the saddest thing about social media."
And Erin is ready to clean house. The HGTV host ended her video with a message for the people who have the mean takes.
"If you are one of those people who are on social media, unfollow me now," she says.
"Or we can do that for you," Ben adds.
"Thank you so much for being here today," Erin says. "Hope y'all have a great day. All of you who left sweet comments, keep on being you, you're awesome."
Erin, 38, and Ben, 40, host a variety of shows under the Home Town umbrella, including Home Town Takeover and Home Town: Ben's Takeover, on HGTV. The premise is to bring a more modern approach to homes of new residents and old while preserving the historic dignity of the small towns.
In April 2023, ahead of season 2 of Home Town Takeover, ET spoke with Erin and Ben, who shared the importance of their projects in towns that haven't seen an upgrade in decades.
"[People are] working here, but they're not playing here. We want them to live and to love where they're from," Erin told ET. "... We now think of things through the lens of what we want our children to think about where we're from. I think that's what you have to start thinking about: What are the children of Fort Morgan [going to] inherit? That's the big motivation."
