Stone won for Best Actress in a Comedy for her performance in 'Poor Things.'

Emma Stone won a Golden Globe for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy), and a lot happened before and after she took the stage for her acceptance speech.

For starters, as names of the nominees were being rattled off Sunday night at the Beverly Hilton, cameras panned over to nominee Jennifer Lawrence, who looked into the camera and mouthed, "If I don't win, I'm leaving." She had a serious look on her face, but then again, she's a great actress.

After it was announced that Stone won for her role in Poor Things, cameras also cut to her friend, Taylor Swift, on her feet giving Stone a standing ovation. She hooted and hollered while excitedly clapping away. Once onstage, Stone thanked her cast and declared that Poor Things -- peddled as a sci-fi, fantasy, drama comedy -- is a rom-com.

"I see this as a rom-com, in the sense that Bella falls in life itself, rather than a person," said Stone of her character, Bella Baxter. "She accepts the good and the bad in equal measure -- all of it is important."

She also thanked her husband, Dave McCary.

"Dave, I have to start with you really quickly," Stone said. "I love you very much. Thank you for everything."

Stone beat out Lawrence (No Hard Feelings), Natalie Portman (May December), Alma Pöysti (Fallen Leaves), Margot Robbie (Barbie) and Fantasia Barrino (The Color Purple).

For Stone and Swift, it was a bit of a full-circle moment. As ET reported last month, the "Cruel Summer" singer quietly appeared at the New York City premiere of her friend's new film. Swift did not walk the red carpet for that event. But on Sunday, the Midnights singer was front and center congratulating her friend.

No word if Lawrence actually left after Stone's big win.

The 2024 Golden Globes hosted by Jo Koy is on Sunday, Jan. 7, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on CBS and streams on Paramount+. Check out ETonline.com for complete Golden Globes coverage and the full list of winners.
