'IF' hits theaters on May 17.
The anticipation was palpable as the cast of John Krasinski's highly anticipated family movie, IF, graced the red carpet for its grand premiere in New York City on Monday.
Joined by his wife and co-star, Emily Blunt, Krasinski, who both wrote and directed the new fantasy comedy, took center stage at the event at the prestigious SVA Theater.
The star-studded affair saw a constellation of Hollywood's finest in attendance, including, Ryan Reynolds, Steve Carell, Matt Damon, his wife, Luciana, Maya Rudolph, Christopher Meloni, Awkwafina, Bradley Cooper, Amy Schumer, Cailey Fleming, Fiona Shaw, Alan Kim and Bobby Moynihan.
Blunt opened up about working with her husband, Krasinski, again and how their new film IF was overwhelming for their kids.
In an interview with ET’s Rachel Smith, Blunt delved into the profound experience of watching her husband's latest project with their children. The movie promises to be a whimsical journey into the world of imaginary friends, seen through the eyes of a young girl with a unique gift.
Blunt, who lends her voice to a unicorn character in the film, expressed immense pride in Krasinski's work, describing IF as "extraordinary" and "magical." She emphasized how the movie captures the essence of wonder and innocence, prompting viewers to reconnect with their inner child.
"It sort of stops your heart and just lets everyone reclaim their sense of wonder and innocence and magic, and we wonder as adults when it sort of slipped through our fingers, and you watch it and you go right I can go back there, and it's just it's so hopeful and beautiful," said Blunt.
Reflecting on the film's significance for their family, Blunt revealed that watching IF was an intense experience for their daughters -- Hazel, 10, and Violet, 7.
"It's their dad's beating heart on the screen, and they know that and saw it this weekend, and I think it was just overwhelming for them cause their spirit is sort of all over the movie," said Blunt.
Discussing the behind-the-scenes moments with their kids on set, Blunt shared glimpses of the magical world created for the film. She described how practical sets and larger-than-life characters transformed the filming process into an enchanting experience for their children.
"We had this massive purple guy wandering around. I mean, it was so cool for them, it was so cool," added Blunt.
When asked about her own nostalgia for youth, Blunt humorously reminisced about her love for toast, admitting to a penchant for devouring 10 slices a day. And to the surprise of many, she confessed her fondness for marmite, describing it as her "beating heart" despite the potential for gag-inducing reactions from others.
IF hits theaters on May 17.
