Eddie Murphy recently spoke to 'CBS Mornings' about the romance between his son and the daughter of his close friend, Martin Lawrence.
Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence have had a long friendship and working relationship -- and it's possible they might one day be in-laws.
Eddie recently sat down for a conversation with Gayle King for CBS Mornings, and he reflected on his son Eric's romance with Lawrence's daughter, Jasmin.
"We were just like, 'It's cool,'" Eddie said, referring to his and Lawrence's reactions to the romance, which Eric and Jasmin went public with back in June 2021. "They're both beautiful. They look amazing together."
"It's funny, everybody [asks], 'What, is that baby going to be funny?' Like, just our gene pool is going to make this funny baby," he joked. "If they ever get married and have a child, I'm expecting the child to be funny."
Eric, 34, and Jasmin, 28, have been public with their romance since it began, with the latter taking to Instagram in 2021 to wish her beau a happy birthday.
"Happy birthday, my love! I'm so incredibly blessed to know you, to love you, and to have you by my side," Jasmin captioned a pair of photos of herself and Eric. "Cheers to many more blessings, laughs, and beautiful memories! I love you so much!!"
The post came shortly after Eric expressed his love on Instagram, writing, "Head over heels in LOVE with YOU."
Eddie is a father of 10 children in total. He shares Eric with former partner Paulette McNeely, as well as Christian, 33, with ex Tamara Hood. Additionally, Eddie shares five kids with ex-wife Nicole Mitchell -- Bria, 34, Myles, 31, Shayne, 29, Zola, 24, and Bella, 22. Eddie has a 17-year-old daughter, Angel, with his ex-girlfriend, Mel B.
Additionally, Eddie and his fiancée, Paige Butcher, share two children -- daughter Izzy, 8 and son Max, 5.
Meanwhile, Jasmin is Martin's first born daughter with his ex-wife, Patricia Southall. He also shares two daughters -- Iyanna, 23, and Amara, 21 -- with his ex-wife, Shamicka Gibbs.
Eddie recently spoke with ET at the premiere of Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, and opened up about Eric and Jasmin's romance -- and who will be on the hook for paying for their wedding if they end up tying the knot. Eddie told ET that part shouldn't really be an issue.
"Well, customarily the father pays for daughter, am I correct? That's the way it goes down," he said, throwing the financial responsibility onto Martin's shoulders. "It shouldn't be an issue, you know? Bad Boys is out of the park and Martin has lots and lots of money, so he should be able to play for a splendid wedding."
