This comes after Barrymore opened up about her difficult divorce on Sunday’s ‘Today.’
Downtime means mom time! Drew Barrymore celebrated returning from her press tour with some mother-daughter bonding on Sunday.
The 43-year-old actress has been busy promoting the new season of her Netflix show, Santa Clarita Diet, and made sure to fit in some fun time with her daughters, Olive, 5, and Frankie, 3, at Candytopia.
"Woooooohoooooo. When you go back to being a parent after a lot of work, and take your kids to @thecandytopia and spend a wonderful Sunday," Barrymore captioned a shot of herself with her girls at the trippy exhibit. "I love my girls so much. Some times, it would be fun to just jump down the wormhole, and see a different world. For now, we just pretend to, and be silly about it!!!!!!!!"
Last week, Barrymore opened up to ET’s Leanne Aguilera about the importance of spending all her free time with her kids.
“I'm just another mom on this planet, but I just spend every waking moment with them,” she told ET. “I wake up with them, I go to sleep with them, I have my weekends with them. There are a lot of days where I have off because I have an unorthodox schedule in my job, and I don’t go do things for myself. I just lean in with them.”
Barrymore also got candid in her Today interview with Willie Geist, which aired Sunday, talking about her divorce from ex Will Kopelman in 2016. She revealed that the Santa Clarita Diet script came to her at this challenging time.
“I had actually stopped acting for several years because I wanted to raise my kids, but then a shift happened in my life and I was separating from their father and it was just a very difficult time," she told Today. "I personally was in a very dark and fearful place, and then this script came along, and I was like, 'Yeah, I don't think it's a good time.'"
