Take a look at the first full trailer for the upcoming film!
The gang's all here.
On Thursday, HBO posted the first full trailer for its upcoming Deadwood film, showcasing all the beloved show's colorful characters trading barbs and aphorisms in the isolated South Dakota town. Ian McShane is once again embodying the wonderfully vulgar saloon owner Al Swearengen, who plays ringmaster to a town that often appears to be on the brink of chaos.
But he isn't alone. Timothy Olyphant is back as stalwartly moral Seth Bullock, Kim Dickens returns as Joanie Stubbs, Molly Parker reprises her role as Alma Garret and Robin Weigert is once again tackling the lovable Calamity Jane.
In the trailer, old romances and relationships are touched up as Bullock and Alma awkwardly reunite. Calamity Jane also crosses paths with her old friend, Charlie Utter (Dayton Callie). However, although plenty of catharsis is teased, so too is unrest as the ruthless George Heart (Gerald McRaney), now a senator, tells the town's inhabitants that their days as an outpost on the edges of civilization are at an end.
"Outlier Deadwood days are over," he tells Al in the Gem Saloon. "Walk with the future."
Viewers are also in for no shortage of classic Western action in the upcoming feature film. Brief clips are shown of gunfights in the streets, blazing fires, heated romances and a night of dancing in the rustic community.
Here's the film's official synopsis: "In this original movie based on David Milch's acclaimed, Emmy-winning HBO series of the same name which debuted 15 years ago, the indelible characters of the show are reunited after a decade to celebrate South Dakota's statehood. Former rivalries are reignited, alliances are tested and old wounds reopened as all are left to navigate the inevitable changes that modernity and time have wrought."
Deadwood: The Movie will be available to watch on May 31 at 8 p.m. on HBO.
