Shannen Doherty died in July 2024, while Luke Perry's death came in March 2019.
David Arquette is recalling working with some late legends. On the latest episode of Watch What Happens Live, the 52-year-old actor revealed that he once had a guest spot on Beverly Hills, 90210, during which he acted alongside Shannen Doherty and Luke Perry.
"I played Diesel Stone, the lead singer of Waste Management," Arquette recalled with a laugh of his 1992 appearance. "I was supposed to play drums and I showed up and the guy said, 'Oh, well we got a drummer.' So they gave me a keytar. I got to play a keytar."
On a more serious note, Arquette reminisced, "I got to work with Luke Perry, who I loved, and Shannen, she was amazing."
"Just being on that set and part of that whole world was really wild," he added of the experience.
Perry, who played Dylan McKay on the teen soap, died in March 2019 after suffering a massive stroke. He was 52. As for Doherty, the actress behind Brenda Walsh, died after a cancer battle in July 2024. She was 53.
Following Doherty's death, Perry's daughter, 24-year-old Sophie Perry, honored the actress with a post on her Instagram Story, sharing a throwback photo of the former co-stars. In the sepia-toned shot, the actors are all glammed up and flashing huge smiles as Perry playfully holds Doherty's necklace between his teeth. She added a simple white heart emoji to her post.
Doherty's 90210 castmates were quick to post tributes to her, including Gabrielle Carteris, who mentioned Perry in her post.
"So young - so sad. May you RIP Shannon," Carteris, who played Andrea Zuckerman, wrote. "I know Luke is there with open arms to love you."
Jason Priestley -- who played Doherty's twin brother, Brandon Walsh -- reacted to the news with a classic shot of their characters.
"Shocked and saddened to hear about the passing of my friend Shannen," he wrote on Instagram. "She was a force of nature and I will miss her. Sending love and light to her family in this dark time."
Meanwhile, Kelly Taylor herself, Jennie Garth, remembered Doherty as one of the strongest women she'd ever met, noting on her I Choose Me podcast, "There was a lot of people who looked up to Shannen, and I was one of them."
Tori Spelling also spoke out, penning a lengthy tribute on Instagram.
"She took me under her wing. She gave me the belief I had a voice and was worthy. We became fast best friends," Spelling, who played Donna Martin, wrote in part. "We were each others wing women, true confidantes, support systems navigating bad relationships, roommates of sorts at times, travel buddies, and so much more. She always stuck up for me. Always had my back. Always believed in me when I didn’t or couldn’t believe in myself."
Brian Austin Green, the actor behind David Silver, called Doherty his sister, writing, "I'll miss you more than I know how to process right now. Thank you for the gift of you."
