Daniel Radcliffe spoke to ET after winning his first Tony Award for 'Merrily We Roll Along.'
Daniel Radcliffe celebrated an extra sweet Father's Day, winning his first Tony Award while looking ahead to the future with his 14-month-old son.
"This has very little currency to him," Radcliffe joked with ET's Rachel Smith backstage at the 77th annual ceremony on Sunday in New York City, noting that the toddler "will enjoy spinning" the trophy.
"It's a beautiful day and I'm really excited to hang out with him tomorrow," the 34-year-old actor added.
Radcliffe welcomed his first child, a son, with girlfriend Erin Darke in April. The couple has not publicly shared their little one's name or any photos of his face.
The Harry Potter alum praised Darke for her support both in his acceptance speech and backstage, acknowledging that the grueling schedule of Broadway performances means that "we are gone a lot." Gushing over his love, Radcliffe told ET, "I'm so lucky to have Erin in my life and to have her here tonight."
Radcliffe is gearing up to take his final bow for Merrily We Roll Along, in which he stars opposite Jonathan Groff and Lindsay Mendez. The hit revival is scheduled to close on July 7, 2024 at the Hudson Theatre.
"I'm so excited," Radcliffe said, pausing to reflect and admit that he's feeling emotional about closing this chapter in his career.
"I will be very sad to stop the show in three weeks," he said. "But I'm also gonna be so excited to just be a dad to our son and a partner to [Darke] for a while."
As for his experience on the Great White Way, Radcliffe couldn't say enough good things about his beloved co-stars.
"I can't do any of the things I do in the show if they weren't there," he said. "I just have to look at them and feel -- I don't have to manufacture any feelings. It's just all there and you don't get that very often as an actor. I've worked with lots of wonderful people who I love, but ... it's a special thing with this show."
Radcliffe won the award for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical on Sunday. Groff also took home some hardware, winning Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical. Mendez was nominated in the Featured Actress in a Musical category, but that award ultimately went to Kecia Lewis for Hell's Kitchen.
Merrily We Roll Along was awarded Best Revival of a Musical.
