'Dance Moms: A New Era' premieres Aug. 7 on Hulu.
"A New Era" indeed -- Dance Moms returns to Hulu with an all-new cast.
In the Dance Moms: A New Era teaser, the reboot of the hit reality phenomenon looks just as dramatic as its predecessor, if not more so. But this time, it has a new coach, new dancers and new mama drama.
"This will be the biggest challenge of my career. I'm the coach of the next big team," says dance coach Glo Hampton.
She continues, "I can replace anyone at any time." The phrase is eerily similar to the iconic "everyone's replaceable" catchphrase of the OG Dance Moms coach, Abby Lee Miller.
In this case, everyone's replaceable -- even Miller. Dance Moms: A New Era says goodbye to the Abby Lee Dance Company (ALDC) studios and hello to the prestigious dance school Studio Bleu. Hampton wants to take her students to the next level by competing nationally every week.
There may be new faces, but it's the same fierce competition. And with competition comes conflict. It's unclear if we'll see the original pyramid child ranking system again, but the new show will surely bring scheming moms and giant meltdowns.
In the teaser, a team of seven girls in dance costumes and full faces of makeup walk dramatically together. All are in white except for one in black -- the new Maddie Ziegler perhaps?
The tiny but mighty dancers will likely be pitted against each other and ruled with an iron fist. Will Hampton and her dance team persevere amid the dramatics?
The reboot comes not long after Dance Moms: The Reunion aired May 1 on Lifetime. The special brought together former dancemates and co-stars Chloe Lukasiak, JoJo Siwa, Brooke and Paige Hyland, Kalani Hilliker and Kendall Vertes. Maddie Ziegler, Mackenzie Ziegler and Nia Sioux were absent. Miller -- who has a new show, Abby Lee Dance With Me!, in store -- was not invited. The group reflected on the good and the bad that the show brought, especially Miller's harsh criticism that often brought the girls to tears.
After filming the reunion, Lukasiak opened up to ET about the impact of Miller's cruel judgment on her throughout her adolescence. "It was really hard. It's something I'm still working on," she said. "I think when you're that young, you're really vulnerable and you absorb everything people tell you."
Dance Moms: A New Era will be 10 episodes long and premieres on Hulu on Aug. 7.
