Erivo was joined by her 'Wicked' co-star at the 2024 Met Gala.
Cynthia Erivo can't wait for fans to see Wicked!
On Monday, the 37-year-old actress attended the 2024 Met Gala looking as cool as ever in a custom Thom Browne ensemble that was covered in pink rose petals. Given that this year's theme was "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion" and the dress code was "The Garden of Time" -- which is inspired by J.G. Ballard's 1962 short story of the same title -- it's safe to say that Erivo nailed her look.
Speaking to ET's Rachel Smith from the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, Erivo shared the inspiration behind her stunning outfit, saying it was "almost like running through the garden and all the petals are falling."
She added: "We have critters and bugs in my nails, all over the place, and it's sort of like the way in which time sort of serves the Earth and the flowers and all of that."
Joining Erivo on the carpet was her Wicked co-star, Ariana Grande, who looked ethereal in a white gown.
"I'm so proud of her. I'm really, really, really proud of her," Erivo told ET of Grande. "I'm proud of both of us together."
As the two actresses get ready for the Nov. 27 release of their highly anticipated film, Erivo said she's looking forward to viewers seeing "the relationship that these two women have." Erivo and Grande star as Elphaba and Glinda, respectively, in the film.
Wicked also stars Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Jeff Goldblum, and more.
Meanwhile, this year's Met Gala theme -- "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion" -- is a nod to fashion history. The Metropolitan Museum of Art's exhibition theme -- curated and organized by The Costume Institute -- will feature 250 items from its permanent collection displayed in a new, innovative way.
