Ernest said he 'can't stand' hearing his son 'ask for daddy.'
Ernest is taking a break. On Tuesday, the 32-year-old country singer announced that he's taking a month off from work to spend time at home with his family, which includes his wife, Delaney Royer, and their 3-year-old son, Ryman.
"Getting out and playing for you guys every night has been a dream," Ernest wrote alongside a black-and-white pic of him holding his son. "But running non-stop I'm not gonna lie, it’s taken its toll on me. After getting back from London, it’s really hit me."
"I'm going to be taking about a month off to reset and spend some time at home with my family," he continued. "My son, Ryman is now at the age where every time I get home, he asks me if I'm leaving… and I just can't stand hearing him ask for daddy thru a phone call any more."
Ernest noted that he wants to "spend quality time at home and pour into that reserve."
"I'm lucky to have a lot of incredible things coming up, and because of that I want to show up as my best self for my family and for you guys," he concluded. "We will be back on the road soon, and I can't thank you all enough for the support - y'all be good."
Ernest released his latest album, Nashville, Tennessee, back in April.
After his time off, Ernest is set to perform at several festivals and fairs starting on Aug. 8. He'll then kick off his Legalize Country Music Roadshow on Sept. 4 in Vancouver. That tour will continue through October, and then Ernest will join Jelly Roll on his Beautifully Broken tour.
