Cory Hardrict Discusses His New Outlook on Relationships After Tia Mowry Divorce (Exclusive)

Actor Cory Hardrict spoke with ET at the premiere of his new film, 'Divorce in the Black,' on Monday.

Cory Hardrict is opening up about his new outlook on relationships.

Hardrict, 44, walked the carpet at the New York City premiere of his new film, Tyler Perry's Divorce in the Black, at the Regal Times Square theater on Monday, where he spoke with ET about some lessons he's learned in his own life about the challenges of romance.

"Be still and keep God first and just be silent," said Hardrict, whose own 2022 split from ex-wife Tia Mowry played out in headlines. "The noise disappears, you know what I'm saying?"

"That's all I do. I got to be still and I think about the big picture and I keep the main thing the main thing, which is my children, God, and my career," he added.

In October 2022, Mowry, 46, announced that she and Hardrict would be ending their marriage after 14 years. ET obtained the documents, in which Mowry cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for her divorce filing -- signed on Sept. 30, 2022.

Together, the exes are parents of Cree, 13, and Cairo, 6. Their divorce was finalized six months later in April 2023.

According to Hardrict, the secret to keeping your head above water in a situation like that is remembering "it's all about unconditional love."

In Divorce in the Black, Hardrict stars as Dallas, a man who is having a hard time letting go of his failed relationship with his ex-wife, Ava (Meagan Good), and will go to any lengths (sometimes dangerous) to get her back.

Hardrict explained to ET that even though he was working through the end of his 14-year marriage when he was offered the role, he did not hesitate to take on the project because of the chance to work with Tyler Perry.

"What makes him such a great leader is Mr. Tyler Perry, he's for the culture, he's employed the whole world, you know? He's been impactful," Hardrict shared. "To get the call from Mr. Tyler Perry is a no-brainer."

"He's changed my life tremendously, which has given me a showcase and given me freedom to be the creative [person] I am," he added. "He's the best collaborator and he's also so powerful... I look up to him."

Divorce in the Black premieres July 11 on Prime Video.
