The actor makes his directorial debut in the upcoming comedy-mystery Poolman, in which he also stars as the titular beach bum-looking pool cleaner, named Darren Barrenmen.
The teaser trailer opens with Darren speaking directly to the audience, thanking them for watching his trailer, as he types out a script on a typewriter.
He introduces his best friends, played by Danny DeVito and Annette Bening, his girlfriend, played by Jennifer Jason Leigh, and finally, the catalyst for his latest adventure -- a mysterious, glamorous woman named June Del Rey, played by DeWanda Wise.
June, it turns out, has uncovered corruption in the Los Angeles water system, and wants Darren to help her snoop around for more details.
"I love Los Angeles," Darren promises in the teaser, "and I'm fighting to make it a better place."
"Anyway," he adds, "these are some cool images set to awesome music -- hit it!"

The film -- which premiered at TIFF last fall -- also stars Ray Wise, Juliet Mills, Stephen Tobolowsky and Clancy Brown.
Poolman is in theaters May 10.
