It was a mother-daughter night out for Charlize Theron and her youngest child, August, on Monday. The duo made a fashionable appearance at the Dior Pre-Fall 2024 Show in New York City, with August flashing a huge smile alongside her mom.
Theron, 48, looked chic in a long-sleeved black top and tan skirt with black lettering. She rounded out the look with thigh-high black boots, classic black sunglasses and layered gold jewelry, wearing her hair slicked back. August, 7, wore a cobalt blue-and-white letterman jacket over a white dress.
Not pictured was Theron's eldest child, 11-year-old daughter Jackson. The Oscar-winning actress is a single mom to both children, whom she welcomed via adoption in 2012 and 2015.
The Fast X actress recently opened up about motherhood in an interview with ET, sharing that Jackson is growing up and asserting her independence. While the family of three has bonded over a shared love of Taylor Swift, Theron admitted that her eldest child opted to attend Swift's Eras Tour concert film with her peers.
"My oldest daughter went to the movie with a bunch of friends," Theron told ET in November. "Yeah, she doesn't wanna do that stuff with me anymore. She's just like, 'Mom, just drop me off at the mall, please, please!'"
However, they did enjoy Swift's live performance together on Theron's 48th birthday in Los Angeles over the summer.
"It looked like I was being a good mom, but I was actually really happy," she admitted.
Another shared passion among them is philanthropy. The South African native founded the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project in 2007 in an effort to support young people, their sexual and reproductive health and rights, as well as gender-based violence prevention.
"My youngest daughter is incredibly interested, and she's done little speeches at her school about it," Theron shared with pride. "I just take a step back because I want them to discover this for themselves. I don't want them to be mini me's. Just be good people. That's what I want them to be."
In 2022, Theron said that her kids didn't have a firm understanding of her career -- including her iconic ads for Dior.
"In their heads, they’re like, 'We know you work, but we’re not 100 percent sure what you do.' My younger one goes, 'Oh my God, Mom, it feels like you can’t hold a job,'" Theron told The Hollywood Reporter. "And my older one, she’s a pre-teen now, so there are moments, like, we’re walking through an airport and [she sees me on a Dior billboard] and she’s just like, 'Oh my God, you’re on a f**king wall with no shirt, Mom. This is so embarrassing. Put a shirt on!' And I'm like, 'That will pay for your college!'"
She added, "But deep down, like every mother, I just want to f**king impress them."
