The 'Call Her Daddy' host exchanged vows to with her groom in a romantic setting.
Alex Cooper has officially said "I do" to her beau, Matt Kaplan.
The couple exchanged vows in a breathtaking ceremony earlier this month in Riviera Maya, Mexico, marking the beginning of their lifelong journey together.
Speaking to Vogue, the Call Her Daddy podcast host describes the nuptials as "everything we wanted it to be."
"It was emotional and heartfelt, and we tailored it to exactly how we always envisioned it," she shares.
For Alex and Matt, privacy and intimacy were paramount as they chose a secluded setting with a small guest list consisting of only their closest loved ones.
"It was really important to us to keep the guest list small so we could be present with each other and the people who we love the most and who have helped us become who we are today," Alex says.
Alex shared the story of her wedding weekend in Mexico with her Instagram followers. She and her partner, Matt, woke up on the beach, enjoyed breakfast burritos, and took a walk with their dogs in anticipation of their guests' arrival. Wanting a small wedding to feel like a vacation with close family and friends, they chose a quaint spot on the east coast of Mexico. Ahead of their wedding day, Alex and Matt held a rehearsal dinner where Alex wore a sheer gown with Black Suede Studio heels.
They made a point to be present and enjoy the moment, having done the hard work beforehand. Matt's idea of a sand structure featuring their dogs, Henry and Bruce, greeted guests as they arrived. Despite its imperfect execution, Alex appreciates its uniqueness and asked her followers whether they loved or hated it.
Last April in W Magazine, the 29-year-old confirmed her engagement to the Hollywood producer.
"We were doing a shoot at my studio in West Hollywood," Alex told W of Kaplan's proposal. "I remember the shoot feeling like it had no direction, and I could tell everyone was stalling. Little did I know that this was a fake photoshoot that my publicist and Matt set up to keep me out of the house, out of my sweatpants and in hair, makeup and nails so I’d feel happy with the photos. When I came home that night, my entire house was covered in candles, lit all over, music playing and a scavenger hunt leading to Matt proposing."
Alex added that it wasn't until she met Kaplan that she even entertained the idea of marriage. "So many marriages in my life are so unhealthy and unstable," she explained. "A lot of people settle, and I refuse to do that. But with Matt, it immediately was obvious to me, once our relationship progressed to the point that it was time, that yes, I would love to marry him."
The journey to the alter began in 2020 when Alex and Matt's paths crossed during a Zoom business call. Dubbed "Mr. Sexy Zoom Man" by Alex at the time, their connection was immediate. She largely kept their relationship under wraps, though she occasionally opened up about her romance on her podcast.
Now that they're married, Alex is opening up a bit more. On Wednesday, she shared a snapshot of their wedding cakes, writing, "4/6/24." Among the desserts, one bore the inscription "Mr. Sexy Zoom Man," with "Man" struck through and replaced by "Husband." The second cake humorously read, "Oops, Daddy got married!"
As their wedding approached, the couple hosted a heartwarming pre-ceremony celebration in February to include Matt's beloved 100-year-old grandmother, who couldn't attend the destination wedding.
"We had a little pre-wedding celebration with Matt's 100-year-old grandma last night," Alex shared on Instagram. "She sadly won’t be able to travel to our wedding so we wanted to make her feel special and a part of everything."
