Billy Ray Cyrus and Firerose Finalize Divorce Nearly 3 Months After Split

Country singer Billy Ray Cyrus' contentious divorce from ex Firerose is over and settled.

Billy Ray Cyrus' divorce from Firerose has been finalized nearly three months after their split.

Billy Ray's lawyers -- Rose Palermo and Jason Talley of Cheatham Palermo & Garrett -- confirmed the news of the legal development in a statement to ET on Monday.

"This past Friday, the parties reached a settlement agreement at mediation to dissolve their 7-month marriage, and the Court declared the parties divorced this morning," the statement shared. "Mr. Cyrus is relieved to put this nightmare behind him."

The statement included a comment from Billy Ray, who said he was "very relieved" and is "giving thanks today to breathe a sigh of relief."

"This has been absolutely the most crazy insane scam I have ever heard of. Let alone the fact I'm right in the center and basically the target of the scheme. It's unfortunate… it played out this way," Billy Ray stated. "It was a matter of the heart. Love is blind … that's for sure."

The country crooner's attorneys claim that Firerose -- whose real name is Johanna Hodges - "legally changed her last name from 'Hodges' to 'Cyrus'" a couple of weeks ago.

"Mr. Cyrus feels that this validates his assertion that his ex-wife's sole impetus for marrying him was to obtain his last name," the statement added.

Billy Ray filed for divorce from Firerose in May after less than a year of marriage. As for the reason behind the dissolution, he cited "irreconcilable differences" and "inappropriate marital conduct." Under "Grounds for Annulment," Billy Ray noted "consent to Marriage was obtained by Fraud."

After Billy Ray filed for divorce, Firerose accused him of domestic abuse. He fired back in court documents claiming she was the physical, emotional and verbal abuser.

Amid the divorce, a judge ruled last month that Firerose has "no legitimate reason" to "have access to and to make any additional charges" on his credit cards after he claimed in court that she spent more than $96,000 of his money after he filed for divorce from her.

Billy Ray, 62, and Firerose, 36, tied the knot on Oct. 10, 2023 in Franklin, Tennessee. They first met on the set of Hannah Montana, before becoming musical collaborators, and got engaged in August 2022.

Billy Ray was previously married to Cindy Smith (1986-1991) and then Tish Cyrus (1993-2022). Billy Ray and Tish share three children -- Miley, 31, Braison, 30, and Noah, 24. Billy Ray also adopted Tish's children, Brandi, 37, and Trace, 35.
