The on-again, off-again couple have called it quits.
Ben Affleck and girlfriend Lindsay Shookus have broken up, a source tells ET.
According to the source, the split is simply the result of too much time apart due to their hectic schedules.
"The distance was definitely a huge factor in their breakup," the source says. "They both have a lot of love for each other but ultimately they realized it was not going to work."
However, the source added that they have "so much love and admiration for each other."
Of course, this isn’t the first time that Affleck and Shookus, a producer on Saturday Night Live, have parted ways. In August of last year, they called it quits just months before the actor entered rehab for a third time after relapsing, ending the year-long relationship.
"Lindsay wanted Ben to go to rehab, but had trouble getting him there," a source told ET at the time. "He didn't want to be controlled and ended things with Lindsay."
During this tumultuous period for Affleck, he and Jennifer Garner also finalized their divorce following a three-year separation.
Then, in February, he and Shookus began talking again, according to a source.
Shortly thereafter, the pair was spotted getting dinner together in Los Angeles. However, they were careful to not be photographed together, entering the restaurant separately. At the time, a source told ET that they "are hanging out again. They have been for over a month now."
Shookus was also by Affleck's side at the March premiere of his film, Triple Frontier, in New York, wearing a black gown under a black-and-white plaid coat for the event.
And, as recently as late March, the couple was spied grabbing lunch together in L.A.
All the while, Affleck and Garner have seemingly maintained a close co-parenting relationship, often photographed together while out and about.
