The pro wrestler is opening up about her personal life and career ahead of the release of her new memoir.
Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins have a pro wrestling love story for the ages, and the celebrated star is opening up about their romance and the family they've built together in her new memoir, Becky Lynch: The Man: Not Your Average Average Girl.
Lynch -- whose real name is Rebecca Quin -- recently sat down with ET's Ash Crossan and got candid about how she first realized she had feelings for Rollins.
"I feel like there was always a deep connection with him. Like, there was always a bond," Lynch, 37, reflected. "He used to tease me, but in a way that was so loving. I'd always run up to him and I'd tell him these stupid jokes and he'd tell me I was the worst and then we'd go our separate ways. But I would always look forward to seeing him so much."
"He was the person, if we had a joint pay-per-view [event], that I would look forward to seeing the most," she continued. "I just loved hanging around with him."
Lynch recalled how in late 2019 their "schedules started to mix a lot more" and that meant spending a lot more time together.
"I would see a lot more of him. And anytime we came together, we'd have these chats and we were both going through stuff in our own relationships," Lynch recalled. "I had been unceremoniously ghosted at the time, [which was] for the best, thank God... and we bonded over these things."
"Then we were just both single and free and had no ideas of any attachment, and one thing lead to another and then here we are, five years later," Lynch said.
The couple began dating in January 2019, and the pair went public with their relationship the following April. By August of 2019, they had gotten engaged, and welcomed their daughter, Roux, in December 2020. The pair tied the knot in June 2021.
Reflecting on their connection, Lynch said that she and Rollins, 37 -- whose real name is Colby Lopez -- share their dedication to their art and sport and support each other's careers.
"We think about wrestling, we love wrestling, we're always so there for each other, and we understand. We're always there to help each other with ideas, so it's become the greatest relationship in every way possible because we understand each other so much," she said. "And then he's just the best father and the best husband."
"He is an incredible father. He is so patient and he's so good at playing and he explains things and he’s a teacher by nature, so he just like loves teaching," she added.
Speaking about their 3-year-old daughter, Lynch marveled, "She's incredible, man! She's fun and she's smart and she's funny and she's sweet and she's everything. She's powerful! We call her Mob Boss Roux because she runs a tight ship."
For Lynch, being a mom has changed her perspective on life and her business.
"Well, that's my number one now," Lynch said of Roux. "I look and she's 3 and she's talking and she has a personality and she has her likes and you just go, 'She's never going to be a baby again. She's never gonna be a little baby again.' So you kind of have to learn to enjoy the moments and stages while you have them."
"You learn that there's much bigger things than you and what you want and your goals and your dreams," she continued. "You have to put this little person and her life before yours, but you want to do it, and that changes you."
According to Lynch, when it comes to professional wrestling, "You have to be selfish to succeed in this business. You have to be thinking about your storylines, your character. But now I'm like, 'OK, how can the business grow? How can we make this better and how can I show her that you can do anything you put your mind to and that there is no limit just because you were born a certain gender?'"
To this end, Lynch and Rollins take their little girl with them when they travel for work, and she's become accustomed to their otherwise unique careers.
"We take her with us, so she sees us on trucks and on posters and things around the arena," Lynch said. "She's like, 'There is the dada truck and there's the mama truck.'... and she sees our action figures and things like that. She knows that we're on TV."
She also knows that her mom and dad "get booboos from working."
"She's like, 'Do all grownups get booboos from working?' And it's like, 'No, Uncle Josh works at the gym and Aunt Jen, she works on a computer.' So it's like trying to explain that not all jobs, when you get older, will involve getting beaten up."
Apart from her new perspective on life, it seems she's had something of change of heart regarding her falling out with former friend Charlotte Flair.
The pair -- who had long been close companions -- famously developed a rift between them that resulted in a backstage behind-the-scenes confrontation in October 2021. However, Lynch says that tensions have cooled in the years since.
"I don't know that it'll ever go back to where it was," Lynch said of their relationship. "It will be something different, you know? We're good. We're good now, and I think that's the trials and tribulations of life, you know? You fall out with people, and hopefully, you can get to a point where you can own your mistakes and you can move on from that."
"I think, with her, there was just always so much love... we came up together," Lynch added. "There's just love, even when we were on the outs."
For Lynch, it's possible that going through something like a very public collapse of a friendship could actually work toward strengthening that friendship in the long run.
"I think, sometimes, they end up being some of the best relationships because you go through the mud with them and you come out the other side," she said, "and you have a lot more understanding."
