'Bad Monkey' First Look: Vince Vaughn's TV Return Brings Big Laughs (Exclusive)

The cast and creator of 'Bad Monkey' have nothing but praise for Vince Vaughn in a special BTS featurette.

Vince Vaughn is bringing his deadpan humor and improvisational talents to TV with the new crime dramedy Bad Monkey -- and his well-known skill for off-the-cuff comedy was something his castmates were more than excited to get to take part in.

In this exclusive behind-the-scenes featurette, some of Vaughn's co-stars opened up about working with the celebrated actor.

"Vince Vaughn is a hero of mine," Zach Braff shared with reverence. "When I saw Swingers, it made me want to be an actor like that, who could come up with jokes on the spot."

"Today, for the first time, I got to do it with the man I always looked up to!" added Braff, who previously worked with Bad Monkey creator and showrunner Bill Lawrence on Scrubs.

"Vince, he lives for improv," shared co-star Michelle Monaghan, while Meredith Hagner explained that the thing that really makes his comedy land hard is that "his humor is so grounded and so real."

Meanwhile, Lawrence showered Vaughn with praise for elevating the material with both his acting instincts and the way he inspires his co-stars.

"Watching him doing that up-close and making stuff that we wrote better, it was a pleasure," Lawrence praised.

Bad Monkey -- adapted from the 2013 book of the same name by Carl Hiaasen -- follows Andrew Yancy (Vaughn), a former police detective who has hit hard times and works as a restaurant inspector in Southern Florida.

However, he is pulled back into a web of intrigue when a tourist stumbles across a severed human arm, and Andrew gets roped into dealing with the greed and corruption of the Florida underworld and those in power.

Bad Monkey premieres Aug. 14 on Apple TV+.
