Boy banders, prom queens, '90s hits and an In-N-Out Burger food truck -- AJ McLean’s wife, Rochelle, knows how to throw a party!
Having missed out on proms as a teen, due to traveling the world with the Backstreet Boys, McLean got the surprise of his life when he turned up to The Mark in Los Angeles, California, for a star-studded prom party on Saturday.
“My beautiful wife, who’s been planning this for three years,” he said while thanking friends and family during a speech. “How I didn’t find out was honestly beyond me. I honestly thought I was going to The Magic Castle! This is so surreal.”
The fun bash was attended by McLean’s bandmates, Nick Carter and Brian Littrell, 98 Degrees heartthrob Jeff Timmons and his gorgeous wife, Amanda, actress Carrie Keagan, O-Town's Erik Michael-Estrada and *NSYNC’s Lance Bass and his husband, Michael Turchin.
After McLean got emotional during his speech, Littrell rushed in to honor his bandmate of nearly 25 years.
“Welcome to the club,” said Littrell, who attended the party with his wife, Leighanne. “This guy has the biggest heart of anyone I know. He has the biggest heart, he loves the most, he hurts the most, he is passionate the most.”
Carter then ran up, adorably wrapping his arm around the dad of two before gushing about their friendship. “I’ve loved you since the moment I met you,” Carter said. “That’s really weird, right? Ever since you burnt my comic book when I was a teenager... It doesn't matter because, honestly, you’re one of my favorite people on this planet, I love you so much. You’re my brother and I wouldn’t miss this for the world.
The boys, who resume their Larger Than Life residency at Planet Hollywood's AXIS Theater on Jan 31., then led the crowd in singing, “Happy Birthday.”
Partygoers enjoyed burgers, danced to '90s hits like Montell Jordan’s “This Is How We Do It” and pulled their best prom poses in a photo booth, where cast members from Carter and wife Lauren’s Dead 7 film reunited for a fun pic.
And, naturally, McLean was crowned prom king before sharing a celebratory dance with his beautiful prom queen, Rochelle, to Soul for Real’s “Candy Rain."
Celebrations continued for McLean on Monday as he marked nine years with Rochelle, returning to the same spot where the couple enjoyed their first date, accompanied by their adorable daughters, 5-year-old Ava and 9-month-old Lyric.
Happy 40th, AJ!
