A source confirms to ET that 'working together' brought them closer.
There's a new couple in town! Avril Lavigne and Mod Sun are dating, a source exclusively tells ET.
"Working together has brought them closer and Avril has a history of falling for people that she works with. She falls in love with them for their musical creativity and expression," the source says. "Her working relationships often turn romantic."
"Avril and Mod Sun have been spending a ton of time together and getting to know each other better," the source notes.
The news comes after the artists collaborated on the song "Flames," which will be featured on Mod's upcoming album.
Another source tells ET that the Avril "is spending almost all of her free time with him."
"Avril takes her career very seriously and since she started working with Mod Sun, music brought them closer together and they definitely bond over that," the source adds.
In addition to Mod and Avril collaborating on the single and its accompanying music video, another source tells ET that for the past few months, the two have been working tirelessly on Avril’s upcoming album. The source adds that Mod co-wrote and co-produced the entire album alongside Avril, which is now complete and will be released some time later this year.
Avril and Mod initially sparked romance rumors after they were recently photographed going to dinner together in West Hollywood.
And since releasing "Flames" last month, they have taken to Instagram to post about one another. Mod, 33, even wrote on Instagram how their song changed "a lot of things" in his life.
"Sending a huge thank u to everyone who has watched + shared this video over the last week!" he wrote. "I’ve never had a song react this way + it’s really changing a lot of things in my world right now. Hard work pays off but more importantly DREAMS COME TRUE💚."
Last Thursday, Avril, 36, also tagged Mod in a photo that showed a number of desserts from BOA Steakhouse, writing, "Let the celebrations begin."
Mod was last connected to Bella Thorne, while Avril's last relationship was with Phillip Sarofim, son of Egyptian-American billionaire investor Fayez Sarofim. The two broke up in November 2019, after less than two years of dating. She was previously married to Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger and Sum 41's Deryck Whibley.
