Garfield was first spotted out with spiritual advisor Kate Tomas in March 2024 -- though they've kept their relationship private.
Andrew Garfield's girlfriend, Kate Tomas, is opening up about the public speculation and "misogynistic" scrutiny that comes with dating an A-list celebrity.
"It's frustrating that no matter how accomplished or impactful a woman is, it's always going to be more interesting if they are in a relationship with a man," the spiritual advisor and "professional witch" shared in a new interview with The Times. "I don’t want to sit under anybody’s shadow."
Plenty established in her life and career before she was first spotted out with Garfield, 40, in March 2024, Tomas, 42, counts Lena Dunham and Megan Mullally among her star-studded clientele, who come to her for tarot readings, rituals, spiritual mentorship and more.
There's even a masterclass on seduction, which unfortunately led to "horrific accusations... that I’d used magic to seduce my partner" after her relationship became public knowledge.
"People that are really attractive are full of charisma because they are authentically themselves and confidently anchored in that," she said of what leads to a successful seduction.
Confidence, Tomas admits, can be difficult to maintain in a world where your life is dissected online and paparazzi "take maybe 150 pictures, then they choose the four where you look worst."
"Nothing could prepare me for having literally thousands of women telling me I'm ugly, I'm unattractive, I'm less than in every conceivable way," she shared, noting that she "fell back on" her own teachings to overcome the negative energy. "The most powerful form of psychic protection is knowing who you are and being OK with that."
It's no surprise that Garfield hasn't spoken out about his new romance; the Under the Banner of Heaven star typically strives to keep his private life under wraps. He's been vocal about a few notable relationships in the past, including his longtime romance with Amazing Spider-Man co-star Emma Stone. The former couple met in 2010 and dated until 2015.
In a 2021 interview with Bustle, the actor said that he's "designed" his life to be as removed from the public eye as much as possible.
"I'm not in the public eye to a great degree because I've designed it that way for myself," he added of choosing to keep his love life private.
And, while Tomas recently shared on her podcast, The Friday Emails, that she's "in a new relationship, and I’m in love and I’m really happy," there likely won't be much more from the burgeoning couple on the subject.
Especially not for tabloid reporters who, Tomas told The Times, have staked out her home and hassled her neighbors, asking "if I'm a good person. Like, I don't care."
