'The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story' will premiere on Jan. 17 on FX.
American Crime Story appears to be honoring the legacy that Gianni Versace left on the fashion industry.
In the latest teaser for The Assassination of Gianni Versace, a number of models are seen walking the runway in a haunting manner as Gianni, portrayed by Édgar Ramírez, talks over the fashion show.
"My shows must be about life," he proclaims as a Kate Moss look-alike hits the catwalk. "Life is precious."
Gunshots are then heard as the models stop mid-walk and a newscaster is heard announcing that the 50-year-old designer has been murdered at the hands of Andrew Cunanan, played by Darren Criss.
"Who will stop this murder spree?" another reporter is heard asking as we see a model crying on the runway.
Last month, the first trailer was released for Versace, which offered fans a first look at Penelope Cruz as Donatella Versace, Ramírez as Gianni, Ricky Martin as the designer's longtime partner, Antonio D'Amico, and Criss as Cunanan.
These first snippets largely focused on how Cunanan came to meet and ultimately kill the Italian fashion mogul, but also show how his sister, Donatella, stepped in to protect her brother's legacy.
The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story will premiere on Jan. 17 on FX.
In September, Donatella honored her brother during Milan Fashion Week by reuniting the original supermodels that her sibling helped make famous. Carla Bruni, Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford and Helena Christensen joined Donatella on the runway and looked just as gorgeous as they did all those years ago.
At a press conference prior to the show, the 62-year-old designer said she was thrilled to pay tribute to Gianni. “Today I am not sad," she declared. "I am happy that after 20 years I can finally do this with a smile on my face."
