After much anticipation, we're less than two weeks away from Amazon Prime Day 2024. The spectacular two-day shopping event is set for July 16 and July 17 this year. For those unfamiliar with the occasion, Amazon Prime Day is one of the biggest savings events on the retail calendar. This will be Amazon's tenth annual savings event, so bargain hunters are eagerly anticipating even bigger and better savings for the upcoming sale extravaganza.
One caveat to the sale is that only Amazon Prime members can shop these Prime Day deals. Prices will be slashed on top brands, and many times these could be rare sales that shoppers couldn't score otherwise. When is Amazon Prime Day 2024?
Amazon just announced that Prime Day 2024 will take place from Tuesday, July 16 to Wednesday, July 17, 2024, starting at 12:01 a.m. PT on Tuesday and running through 11:59 p.m. PT on Wednesday night.
In addition to Prime Day this July, Amazon now typically offers a second 48-hour sale exclusively for Prime members in October called Amazon Prime Big Deal Days. Amazon also held its first-ever Big Spring Sale this past March.
What to expect for Amazon's 10th Prime Day
Prime Day is a global savings event exclusively for Amazon Prime members that has evolved into a retail-industry phenomenon. In 2019, Prime Day grew into a full two days and offered sales on everything from tech and kitchen products to beauty and fashion. Last year, Amazon reported it saved Prime Day shoppers more than $2.5 billion — and this year could see the retailer top that milestone.
Amazon announced that new-to-Amazon brands like Kiehl's Clinique and Allbirds will be included in the Prime Day deals lineup, as well as popular brands that have been staples on the website, like KitchenAid, Sony and designer brand Coach.
Another highlight touted by Prime Day is savings on early back-to-school shopping. Shoppers can save up to 40% on must-haves for the academic year, from brands like HP, Jansport, Amazon Basics and Play-Doh, offering stellar deals for parents with kids entering their first day of Pre-K or young adults finishing their last year of college.
While some brand deals will be offered across both days of the sale, there will also be lightning deals and limited-time deals. Lightening deals are savings on top brands that will pop up throughout both days, but these deals only last until a certain number of products have been sold. Limited-time deals are those that only last for one day of the sale.
Who can shop on Prime Day?
Only Prime members get access to Amazon Prime Day deals. Prime Day’s best deals — including Lightning Deals — are exclusively reserved for Prime members. July 16 will be here soon, so it's best to prepare for Prime Day ahead of time.
Right now, eligible shoppers can sign up for Amazon Prime for just $7.49 per month for the first three months (after which the price increases to $14.99 per month). There are also membership discounts for students and those receiving qualified government assistance.
With a Prime membership, you can shop the sales, get free, two-day shipping, access to TV shows and movies on Amazon Prime Video, plus special deals at Whole Foods Market and more.
What are the best Prime Day deals to expect?
Outside of Black Friday, Amazon Prime Day has become one of the best opportunities to shop major price cuts on nearly everything imaginable. As we get closer to the day, Prime members can request an invitation and then will get an email during Prime Day if they've been selected. Amazon has given shoppers a glimpse of what these invite-only deals will include. Fitness fanatics can score 30% off the Peloton Original Bike and Bike+ or take 40% off the Speedo Champion Signature Swim bundle. The audiophiles will want to request an invite to save up to 40% off Sony Wireless Headphones. Skincare lovers will want to save 58% on Foreo LUNA Mini.
