Leave it to Alicia Keys to launch a thoughtful, female-driven activewear collection that's as inclusive as it is completely stylish — and on International Women's Day, no less.
Over the course of her career, the multi-hyphenate star has managed to expand her brand into a number of different spaces — racking up acclaim as a GRAMMY Award-winning singer and songwriter, authoring a New York Times-bestselling book and even emerging as a vocal champion for female empowerment through her music and philanthropic work ("Girl on Fire" is still an anthem, by the way).
Now, Keys is translating her talents for meaningful creation to a new medium — and it comes in the form of a sporty activewear collaboration with Athleta. The Alicia Keys x Athleta product collection (now available in stores and online at Athleta.com) features fresh, limited-edition workout pieces and other breathable fashion staples that are designed to "give women the freedom to move, breathe, and feel powerful in their own bodies" — as detailed in a news release.
"I was drawn to Athleta because we both want to encourage women to discover, accept and OWN their power," said Keys, in a news release. "We're all about the uniqueness of women, body positivity and creating a lifestyle that showcases our immeasurable power within. It's time to thrive — not just to survive — and my hope is that these offerings are another outlet for you to amplify your personal power, your possibility, and feel comfortable in your own skin."
As with most things that Keys does, the activewear collection is just the base for a much bigger mission that the collaboration hopes to accomplish. Through the partnership, the singer and entrepreneur has also been onboarded as a mentor and advisor for Athleta's Power of She Fund — a grant program which works to support women and girls in the BIPOC community through partnerships, movement and impact-driven programs.
