Serena Williams' husband, Alexis Ohanian, spoke with ET on the red carpet at the 2024 ESPY Awards on Thursday.
Alexis Ohanian was not surprised to hear wife Serena Williams' recent million dollar confession.
The 41-year-old Reddit co-founder spoke with ET's Denny Directo on the 2024 ESPY Awards red carpet on Thursday, offering his reaction to 42-year-old Williams' recent Hot Ones revelation that she once tried (unsuccessfully) to deposit a $1 million check at a drive-through ATM.
Ohanian said he "already knew" the story, but was "floored" by the situation.
"It was never about the money," he said of his wife's massive tennis career. "She started this as a child, right? She went on this journey of professional sport so early and the priority was just being the best. And so even something we would all take for granted -- like, of course you wouldn't deposit a check that big -- for her, that's a by-product of doing the job."
He added, "God bless her."
Ohanian noted that he's "been to a lot of ATMs" in his lifetime, but today he prefers a simpler money management method.
"As soon as the tech got better, obviously I started [snapping] the photo with the app," he said. "No one has time for an ATM anymore."
Ohanian was on hand to support Williams as she hosted the ESPYs at Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. The couple was joined by their 6-year-old daughter, Olympia, while baby Adira -- who turns 1 next month -- was not in attendance.
"I'm a very proud papa," Ohanian gushed of their eldest child. "Olympia's almost seven and this is a fun night to cheer on mama with me."
Ohanian couldn't help but gush over the mom-of-two's star power.
"Looks, it's not the same as a grand slam final but it's close," he joked of her hosting gig. "I think you know she is a star on the court, off the court, on stage, off the stage. I think she's going to do great tonight."
The 2024 ESPYS were hosted by Serena Williams and aired live Thursday, July 11 at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
