The singer will be making an appearance on the hit Fox music drama.
Mariah Carey is coming to the Lyons’ den.

The 47-year-old singer will play Kitty, a mega-superstar who comes to Empire to collaborate with Jamal (Jussie Smollett) on an explosive new song. When the duet encounters obstacles, Kitty helps Jamal dig deep to overcome personal difficulties and reach a musical breakthrough. Carey filmed her cameo last week.
Taraji P. Henson revealed during the Empire panel that she shares several scenes with Carey, saying, "She was great. She's fabulous. She's beautiful to look at. I’d like to wear a leotard like that! She brings a sense of what Mariah brings to the music industry, she brought it to our show. I’m grateful that she spent time with little old us.”
ET’s Carly Steel was with Carey recently, where she teased the song she’s been working on for her Empire guest turn.
“I was in the studio last night and one of the things I had to do was get a song together,” Carey said, adding that Kitty will be “pretty glamorous.”
In May, Carey -- who next appears on her E! docu-series, Mariah’s World -- told Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen that she’d only appear on Empire if the part is “amazing.”

"They had this one idea and I was like, 'Look, if I'm not going to have an amazing character arc, then why would we go on Empire to be basically a version of myself?'" she explained.
Last year, Carey’s pal and Empire creator, Lee Daniels, promised fans that she would drop by the show. "Watch her on Empire, you guys," Daniels declared back in August 2015. "She's coming on Empire."
Looks like he kept his promise!
