With only three guys left, it was obvious that things were only going to get more uncomfortable.
Just when you thought The Bachelorette couldn’t get any more awkward, this week's episode comes along and pushes things to the limits.
As the season rockets toward a close, it all came down to Ben Higgins, Shawn Booth and Nick Viall vying for the love of Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe, and all the angry tension that boiled up last week boiled over in this episode, leading to one of the most anti-climactic confrontations ever.

But we're getting ahead of ourselves. Let's break down the crazy by taking a look at the six most awkward moments from week 9.
*Warning! Spoilers Ahead*
1. Ben's Ill-Fated Fantasy Date
Ben and Kaitlyn's date in Ireland went great. Their time in the castle went even better, and the two even ended up sharing the fantasy suite. But no matter what, we couldn’t get it out of our heads that the final showdown had to be between Shawn and Nick, and that Ben was going to be getting the boot when the Rose Ceremony came around, so all the sweet talk and puppy love just made the whole thing sad.
2. Shawn Strips Down on the Green
While still in Ireland, Shawn and Kaitlyn decided to hit the links for some quality golfing time. But that quickly got insanely boring, so they decided to spice things up with a game of Truth or Dare. Shawn chose dare and Kaitlyn decided to make him streak naked across the green.
The best part of the whole, bizarre seen is when Kaitlyn tells him he can cover up his junk, saying, "You can put your little [golfing] glove over it - I mean your huge glove over it!"

3. Nick Tries to Confront Shawn
After Shawn finds out that Nick was telling Kaitlyn some pretty terrible stories about him, Shawn is steaming. So when Nick tries to confront Shawn at his apartment -- the way Shawn confronted Nick last week -- things don't go well. As we learned when we saw when Shawn strip, he's strong enough to rip Nick in half like a cardboard cutout, but alas their confrontation doesn't come to blows.
Instead, they yelled and threatened like those two kids in high school on the playground who really didn't want to get hurt in a fight, but didn't want to look like wusses in front of their classmates.
4. Kaitlyn Sends Ben Home
We knew it was coming, but it's always mind-blowing how she keeps sending guys home who are obviously sweet, adoring and dedicated, and sticking with the two guys she says are acting like immature children. Then, when she sends the nice, good guy home, she laments that they would have been a great husband and she's terrified she won't find love. Every single week this happens! Sorry, Ben seemed like a nice guy, and Nick seems like the last dude at the bar who struck out all night. Shawn already left the bar with three models, in this hypothetical situation.
5. Nick's Family Isn't Thrilled
After the Rose Ceremony, the second half of the episode involved meeting the remaining two suitor's families. Here, we get to meet Nick's family and they are not super excited that he's competing on another season of The Bachelorette. In fact, they act as if someone in the family was just diagnosed with an incurable disease. His mom and dad even cry, because he's putting himself through the pain and misery of being on a dating show yet again.
6. Shawn's Dad Doesn't Like Any of This
After meeting with Shawn's family -- and things going very well -- Shawn's dad sits him down to have a conversation about him looking for love on a dating show. Asking what most people watching the show are always asking themselves, Shawn's dad asks, "I'm gonna start with one real question. What the hell's going on?"
If we had a dollar for every time we wondered that same thing this season, we could afford that Irish Castle with the Fantasy Suite.
