John Mayer defends Katy Perry's halftime show during his late night hosting gig.
John Mayer appears to be on-again with Katy Perry. The 37-year-old singer/songwriter guest hosted the Late Late Show on Wednesday, and while Perry was not a guest, her Super Bowl halftime show sharks were brought on the show as well as their "handler."
Mayer even decided to dance with the fishes.
The first guest of the night was Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen, who chatted with Mayer about the halftime show and his rekindled romance. "It was unbelievable," Mayer said of Perry's performance, admitting that he watched the game from the stadium's family box. "And I think the whole thing about the sharks, everybody wants to talk about the sharks because it’s just something everyone can grab onto because not everyone feels comfortable walking around saying that Katy Perry was amazing."

Going on about the sharks, he added, "So they use the sharks as kind of, 'Guys, love the sharks.' It's like, you have nothing bad to say about the performance, do you? 'No, I don’t.' Because if they did, you'd hear about it."

After Mayer's Super Bowl halftime show commentary, Cohen responded, "Mozel to you and your family, your girlfriend."
Mayer responded, saying that Cohen's questions "make gossip stories."
