Mindy Kaling on a few of the insulting "compliments" she gets from television journalists.
The Hollywood Reporter recently gathered a few of television's most recognizable television actresses for a special roundtable, in which The Mindy Project's Mindy Kaling, 34, talked about her frustration with some journalists' backhanded compliments about her looks.
"'You're ugly and fat, it's so refreshing to us,'" Kaling said about some of the rude comments she gets. "'What? What are you saying to me, sir?' 'Well, we're used to skinny people, and you're so ugly and we love it.' 'That's not a question, sir.'"

Clearly, her fellow television actresses -- The Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, New Girl's Zooey Deschanel, Nurse Jackie's Edie Falco, Shameless' Emmy Rossum and Orange Is the New Black's Taylor Schilling – were amused by her impersonation, but also stood up for her.
"The thing is, maybe it is refreshing to see someone like me on camera, but ..." Mindy started, before Rossum quickly interrupted her.
"I'm sorry, but you're gorgeous, I don't know what the f*ck everyone is talking about," she said.
