The new mystery-adventure drama from co-creators/executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Fringe and the Star Trek and Transformers franchises) resurrects Ichabod Crane (played by Tom Mison) -- literally – in present-day Sleepy Hollow, NY, when the infamous Headless Horseman re-appears and sets out on a murderous rampage.
"It's interesting to take a literary character that we know and then throw him in completely different circumstances, and just mix it up and see how he deals with it," Mison tells ET about his character.
As Crane comes to terms with the dramatic changes of life 250 years in the future, he must team up with present-day detective Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie) and police Captain Frank Irving (Orlando Jones) to unravel a mystery that dates all the way back to the founding fathers – and prevent disaster when it's discovered that the resurrected Headless Horseman is but the first of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Yikes!
"[The pairing of Crane and Mills is] so unlikely, that you have to have an interesting kind of alchemy to take over and save the world," says Beharie.
"It's action and mythology and history," says Jones. "There's a Headless Horseman running around with a shotgun and he's chopping people's heads off, and that's an actual crime that [my character] has to somehow deal with, so it's crazy, but I think that's what makes [the show] fun, you know?"
