Ed Asner Reprises 'Five-0' Role 37 Years Later

Thirty-seven years after he guest-starred on the original Hawaii Five-0, Emmy-award winner Ed Asner is returning to the new version of the show as a guest star to reprise the same role of a diamond smuggler that he played decades ago.

"He's a no b.s. kind of guy. He knows what good television is and what isn't," star Daniel Dae Kim said of Asner. "He's been around the block long enough to know what he needs to get out a scene and it's actually really refreshing."

Scott Caan also had his fair of complimentary words for the 82-year-old accomplished actor, stating that Asner was "one of the coolest guys [he has] ever met in [his] life."

Asner, who voiced Carl Fredricksen (the old man) in the animated film Up, asserted that he loved the idea of reprising a role that he played decades ago and that he feels as though he did a better job of playing his character this time around.

"Malicious as I was then, I do an even better job now of being 'Sneaky Pete,'" he said of his performance in the upcoming episode.
