Marie Osmond in First Interview: Some Things Were Always Meant to Be
Marie Osmond talks first to ET's Mary Hart, telling her that her wedding Wednesday was "probably the most beautiful day I have had in I don't remember [how long]." She also explains that her wedding date choice was meant to honor two very special people.
"You are the first person I've talked to," Marie tells Mary, sharing of her second wedding to Steve Craig, "Everything has been perfect and we just both can't believe it. We're so happy, and you know how you just know when something's right? Yeah."
Marie says it was their 28-year-old son Stephen who helped to bring them back together: "It was our son who got us to kind of be back together, but [my husband] has been there for me and he's just my best friend, you know, and loves my kids."
The couple chose this day for a special reason -- it's the birthday of Marie's late son Michael and late mother. "We chose this day, Mary, to kind of have Michael here as well. It's his birthday, and my mom's birthday, and I don't know, I just kind of feel like she's been on the other side just kind of making this thing happen."
Marie also dishes on wearing the same wedding dress that she wore in her first wedding to Steve: "I can't breathe, but I'm in it," Marie says.
”I had a dress all designed [for this wedding] and when it showed up it was not [right]. I was so sad, I was actually kind of in tears," Marie tells Mary. But, she adds, "I was cleaning out my garage and all of a sudden this box showed up in this pile of stuff … and it was this dress and it was five days ago. I'm not kidding. Isn't that crazy?"
Marie's new marriage has made her a happy lady, and she shares with Mary, "Some things I guess were just always meant to be, and time makes you grow up and appreciate things. Life is good, you know?"
