Pete Davidson Ends 'Bupkis' Despite Season 2 Renewal: 'This Part of My Life Is Finished'

Davidson's surprise decision comes nearly a year after Peacock renewed the series for a second season.

Bupkis has gone kaput at Peacock.

According to multiple reports, Pete Davidson announced his surprise decision to end the comedy series Thursday, nearly a year after Peacock renewed Bupkis for a second season. As for why he came to this decision, the 32-year-old former Saturday Night Live star said that "this part of my life is finished" and he's ready for the next chapter.

"I've always seen Bupkis as a window into my life, since it is so personal and about my struggles and family," said Davidson in a statement (via Deadline). "After nearly a decade of my personal life being in the media I wanted a chance to tell my story my way. Of all the work I've ever done, Bupkis is by far what I'm most proud of. I am so grateful to Lorne Michaels and Broadway Video, Peacock, Universal Television and the amazing cast and writers for helping me create something honest, funny and heartfelt. I do also feel that this part of my life is finished. I'm very excited for this next chapter and for you guys to see the work. Thank you to all who support me for I am forever grateful."

Davidson's semi-autobiographical series launched with much fanfare last May. The series featured a star-studded cast that included Edie Falco and Joe Pesci. The show also starred Davidson's one-time girlfriend, Chase Sui Wonders. The short-lived series was so personal, Davidson went so far as to release a NSFW preview trailer featuring a slew of famous guest stars, including Bobby Cannavale, Al Gore, Jon Stewart, Charlie Day, Steve Buscemi, Sebastian Stan, Machine Gun Kelly, Ray Romano, John Mulaney, Kenan Thompson, La La Anthony and more.

Davidson served as a writer and an executive producer of the series. At the New York City premiere of Bupkis, Davidson gushed over Wonders while speaking to ET on the red carpet at The Apollo Theater.

"I mean, she's the best. She's the best actress," Davidson said. "She's gonna crush. She's got a lot of cool stuff going so... I had a blast."

Davidson and Wonders would go on to break up in August after nine months of dating. At the time, a source told ET that the SNL alum was working to "get back on track" and "focus on himself."
