The 65-year-old actor tells ET his late co-star would want fans 'to be having fun and laughing.'
Mark Hamill is remembering his dear friend and Star Wars co-star, Carrie Fisher.
Before the 65-year-old actor hosted a tribute panel dedicated to his onscreen sister at Star Wars Celebration Orlando on Friday, he chatted with ET's Ashley Crossan about the late actress' enduring legacy and remarkable character.
"I want to celebrate her life," he explained. "She would want us to be having fun and laughing -- that's what she was all about, so my intent is to honor her and acknowledge her extraordinary contribution to our lives and not let us be consumed with grief."
"Life goes on," he continued. "It is tragic you can't dress it up, but I bounce around the stages of grief, and just when I come -- I never think of her in the past tense, and just when I think I've reached acceptance, I bounce back to anger."
Hamill also touched on what the celebration would be like today, had Fisher, who Star Wars fans knew as Princess Leia, still been alive and able to attend.
"If she were here today, the room would be 10 percent funnier," he said ahead of his presentation at the Star Wars Galaxy Stage inside the Orange County Convention Center. "And that's the things I [would] look forward to -- the premieres, whatever it was, even when I wasn't working with her, I was in her trailers hanging out. That's where the fun was!"
