She shared the video ahead of her MTV VMAs return.
As she prepares to return to the MTV VMAs where she kissed Madonna in 2006, Britney Spears took a moment to wish the pop icon a Happy 58th Birthday late Wednesday night.
Posting an Instagram video of herself and her niece dancing backstage, Spears wrote, “Pre-show warm up! Wishing a happy belated birthday to @madonna!!”
In the clip, the “Clumsy” singer, 34, wears a white romper with thick grey platform heels as she moves around the room to Madonna’s “Vogue.” Her little helper goes with more freestyle moves, using several pieces of exercise equipment as props.
Long before their on-stage smooch, Spears idolized the “Material Girl” singer and aspired to be like her. Her younger sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, dished to ET back in June about Britney’s love for the ‘80s icon.
“[Britney] says, 'Hey, I want to go do what Madonna does. I want to go do this.' ... What is this girl from Louisiana going to do up there with all these other pop stars?” she said.
In addition to currently performing for her Las Vegas residency, Brit is also prepping to make her return to the VMAs stage later this month for the first time in nine years.
She will be performing her new single “Make Me…” off of her upcoming album, Glory. The GRAMMY winner announced the news earlier this week with an epic video, featuring a yellow python, like the one she had wrapped around her for her performance of “I’m a Slave 4 U” in 2001.
