Helena Bonham Carter and Mindy Kaling will also star in 'Ocean's Eight,' from director Gary Ross.
How do you top the likes of George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon? Here's one way:
The Ocean's Eleven spinoff -- not a remake, as originally expected -- has enlisted quite the roster of A-listers to join Sandra Bullock's Ocean's Eight: Anne Hathaway, Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, newcomer Awkwafina and Rihanna are set to star in the "female-driven caper," Deadline first reported.

For those keeping track, that's three Academy Award winners -- and one two-time Oscar nominee! -- in the mix. This also marks the latest IMDb credit for Rihanna, who landed a role in the sci-fi flick, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, and Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising star Awkwafina.
Some quick addition will also tell you this cast list is one member short of the titular Eight, which means a casting announcement is still to come. And we're standing by our original dream casting: Ghostbusters breakout and all-around wonderful human being Leslie Jones. She'd be perfect for this ensemble, don't you think?
This isn't the first time Bullock has gender-swapped one of Clooney's roles, as her character in Our Brand Is Crisis was originally written for him. It's worth noting that Ocean's Eleven was itself a remake of 1960's Ocean's 11.
"This is very much an extension and a continuation," director Gary Ross told /Film of taking the reins on the franchise from Steven Soderbergh. "We're different filmmakers, so there will be those differences, but one of the things I'm drawn to is the amazing tone Steven was able to create, and we discuss that a lot...I'm in no way trying to reinvent the tone, and I'm thrilled and honored to be extending it. It's really fun to work with."
While we're talking casting news, Rihanna recently revealed that she's taking over another iconic movie role, this time on the small screen: BadGalRiRi will play Janet Leigh's Psycho role in Bates Motel. Get the scoop in the video below.
