The 'Ghostbusters' star gets a gold medal for tweeting!
Who says tweeting won't get you anywhere?
Leslie Jones' enthusiasm for the Olympics has been so infectious that her social media magic reached the higher-ups at NBC, who invited her to Brazil on Saturday.
NEWS: Leslie Jones' Olympic Fever Is Absolutely Out of Control
Jones' road to Rio began when Mike Shoemaker, an Emmy-award winner producer who has worked on NBC shows like Saturday Night Live and Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, brought her to the attention of NBC Olympics' executive producer, Jim Bell, who was quickly won over by the Ghostbusters star.
"@shoemakermike OK @Lesdoggg you're officially invited to Rio. Want to come?" Bell tweeted, to which Jones replied, "@jfb @shoemakermike hmmmm don't play cause y'all need me! I would have the whole Olympics pumped!!"
We totally understand why the 48-year-old comedian couldn't believe her good luck, but Bell confirmed the exciting news in another tweet, noting he'd be in contact with her on Sunday.
